Non-Flashy touring jacket for a bargain
#1
Hey guys, these are going fast, but I wanted to share in case anyone's looking for a new jacket. The Tourmaster Navigator caught my eye when it came out around a year ago, but apparently hasn't sold well, as most retailers are now blowing them out for $70.

It's a 3/4 length touring style jacket with plenty of pockets. Monochrome in grey, blue and black. The grey looks almost like a tweed, very snazzy. It's described as a lighter version of the Transition jacket which was my commuting standard, retired after years of service.

There was an online seller who appeared to be linked to local retailers, and sent me to a nearby dealer, but that dealer didn't honor the clearance price, so, might have been a scam. But, upshot is that I got to try it on, and it's very well made. Runs a tad small, so I'd order a size up.

I ordered one of the last grey jackets in my size - looks like that's the color that's selling out the fastest. It will be a nice change when I don't want to wear my day-glo Olympia.

Tourmaster makes good stuff at reasonable prices with nice features and good protection. All the Tourmaster things I have had over the years have held up well and I have always been happy with them.

For the price, that is a very reasonable jacket design, Gone.

Well color me impressed.

It arrived in one day, and I gave it a test ride this morning.
Mrs. Gone says it's pretty stylish, and while I was thinking she'd give me grief for buying a piece of gear that isn't day-glo yellow, she said the color was very subtle for those "meet me for dinner after work" evenings. In fact, going to meet her and her brother for dinner after work.

It's lighter than a typical touring jacket, but still kept the wind off of me nicely this morning. The zipper is fiddly, with two pulls at the bottom that you have to line up to zip it. (I guess in case you want to unzip it by pulling up?)

The rain liner is basically a trash bag, so pulled that out and will not use it, but keeping the thermal liner handy for winter coming up. Glad I ordered one size up from what I'd normally buy. It's tight with the liner in, comfortable without the liner, wearing a light sweatshirt. I am intermittent fasting, however, so I'm hoping everything will get slightly more comfortable soon.

I bought a black Tourmaster Koraza at a blow-out price from Del Amo Motorsports of Long Beach, CA. It was great for the first few months, then the zipper kept unzipping from the bottom up, so I quit using it for a while, then one day out of the blue the thought hit me, get the zipper replaced. A local dry cleaner had a sign in the window, Alterations Done, I took the jacket in there and they replaced the zipper at a reasonable price and did an excellent job. It's my most-of-the-time jacket, light, comfortable, armored, very warm with a long sleeve T-shirt and a sweatshirt under it, it's great now.

Good idea, Ferret. I have a mesh hi-viz vest from Harbor Freight that I start keeping in my tail box this time of year for the dark ride home.

Ferret, to be honest with you.... I would recognize you even from a 1-2 miles away without your reflecting wardrobe Tongue

You have to watch that ferret carefully. He is capable of passing you before your eyes, but you will miss him. It is a freak event in nature.
