Are you serious? You could buy an entire, used CB1100 for the cost of paying a vendor to 3D print a $100.00 part.

Naw. Some bike/car collectors buy a second "like" vehicle that is not road worthy for spare parts. I wouldn't. Those people tend to have some sort of barn to park the parts. I know a woman that used to keep a second Saab for spare parts. She was always replacing pieces that failed. She dumped them both for a Honda.

Yeah, 3D printing and 3D laser scanning are really powerful tools these days. Printing is definitely an affordable hobbyist key tool.

Not for the foreseeable future. Unlike American manufacturers that stop producing replacement parts after 8 years,Honda makes them for years. I can still get parts for my 81 750K.

I don’t do my own maintenance, not that I couldn’t, but the guy at my local Honda Dealership/Garage has a wealth of experience compared to yours truly. Plus it keeps guys in jobs and helps the whole economy part out.

I have a can of chain lube handy and take care of that. My hope for the future is the ability to have 3D printed parts for anything I could possibly ever need.

all depends on what you can do. 3d printing is much more affordable these days, you just need to look into it.

as far as parts go, these are NEW webco reproduction heads made 2 years ago.




we are in the golden age of parts availability, the days of hoarding stuff i think is behind us. with as nice and desireable as the CB1100 is, and its getting to be a decently long run, i dont think there will be a parts problem down the road. 20 years ago, id say yes, but those days are gone.

That is some productive use of 3D printing. Nicely done.
