Today my wife and I visited a motorcycle " rock legend", the Rock Store on Mulholland Highway in Cornell California. Unfortunately it was closed, and also unfortunately we were in a rental car. I was surprised how small the place is. Not much area to park cars or bikes. I've read there can be over 150 bikes here at one time. Some real exotics... But not today. Hard to believe Jay Leno goes there. We then proceeded to drive the "Snake" over to Kanan road. This road deserves what ever reputation it has..it is a wicked road. Kind of like the Dragon on an angle with open sides. I can see why it is so popular. Actually we got lucky in that we were the only vehicle on the road at 9 am on a Monday, so I nether held anyone up, nor had to fear anyone missing a turn and taking me out.
then we drove north on the Pacific Coast Highway mirroring the trip I made on my ST1300 last year. Not quite as good in the car, but easier to stop and take good pictures.
Now in an under value over priced motel in Carmel, home of Clint Eastwood.
Tomorrow a place I didn't get to ride in on last years motorcycle trip..San Fran.

Yeah, the Rock Store is quiet on weekdays, a bit busier on Saturdays, but absolutely packed on any warm Sunday. Well over 300 bikes at a time, packed like sardines, coming and going, all kinds. A heck of a nice free show for the last 50+ years.

Ferret, you should do Angeles Crest Highway up to Newcombe's Ranch for a real taste of SoCal riding road and bike hangout. Enjoy!

Nice trip, title of this post does not do the content justice....I was skipping the "Rock Store" until I ran out of others. Nice and cool along the coast, I'm not usually a city person, but San Francisco is a very nice city, and when I hit the lottery will consider having one of my houses in downtown.

HT.....no. People there are not on the edge, but just over the edge of crazy. And buying property there would take all of your winnings and then you'd have to sell it because you couldn't afford the taxes (no kidding).

Tink, that would have been great. We were in town for a Sat wedding staying in Westlake on Agoura and spent 3 days driving up and down Kanan road down to Malibu and Venice (talk about a crazy place) with no idea the Rock Store was so close.

I rode through there twice last week headed to a work event, definitely a different place mid week. I think it's kinda overrated as far as roads go, there's better in the area, but the traffic and the photographers make it exciting. Latigo Canyon the next road south it a much better ride if you're looking for turns.
