I gave up on ego years ago. Only facts matter to me. And I bet facts matter to most on this forum.

I've never ridden a Mutistrada, so if someone with experience says such nice things about it, it might be worth looking at some day. Same with the Blackbird. Like to try one of those. Owners and previous owners seem very fond of them. Those are facts as I see them.

Yes I have an ego, yes it is a weakness, but I try not to bolster it by putting down others, or trampling on their feelings.

Like some of you I've owned dozens of bikes and own 10 or 11 right now. I could without a doubt live with just one bike to do it all and it does it all better than anything I've ever experienced.
My 2nd gen 1200 Ducati Multistrada...

It's fast,160 HP, handles like a sportbike, its as comfortable as a tourer - even two up, nimble around town, and gets 42 - 44 mpg. You can load it with gear for a month or take it to the track and embarrass gixers. And, it doesn't do too bad off road.
With a set TKC's it'll do anything a GS will do. I've had it a mile deep in the Utah canyon lands and atop a 14,000 ft mountain at Pikes Peak and mount Evans. I jump on it for a quick errand into town and spend the next week on a 1500 mile adventure.

The multi won the pikes peak hill climb 3 years in a row and set new records each consecutive year and it's been used to tour around the world.

Yep, I love my collection of bikes but I truly could live with just the Multistrada its a real "do anything" bike

I agree, this would definitely be on the shorter list, although the computer won't let us use all that power.

I have only one bike, the CB1100 and I can't afford any others. So, for the moment at least, it has to be my Swiss Army Pocketknife of a bike.

Australian Rules can be a great spectator sport and is physically really demanding. I'm sorry you're being denied it, although large chunks of Australia won't have anything to do with it preferring various forms of rugby.

There was some commentary in another thread today about baseball being less interesting than watching paint dry. Many say the same about cricket. I know Pteradactyl's a fan and IndianRider is threatening to visit Australia next year for the Cricket World Cup. I'm no expert, but I'm sure that between us we could offer guidance.

For those who loathe it, there's a fantastic passage in Bill Bryson's book on Australia ridiculing the game of cricket. It's very funny. Well, I think so anyway.

A "One bike does it all"?
No. I had a Road Star 1600 and a Beemer K75 when the CB came along and I fell in lust. I sold the Beemer (two hours on Craig's List, at that point I HAD to buy) and traded the Roadie. I love the CB but I am already plotting and scheming on how to acquire another big twin Roadie.
Plus, I'd really like a Moto Guzzi V7 since I had a chance to ride one.
Really stresses me now that I have the garage space but the wife "just doesn't understand me..."

If I had to downsize to only one it would be a Concours 14. Yes, it's a little on the heavy side, but it has shaft drive, it's fast, has plenty of power, great wind protection, handles like a big sportbike and there's plenty of storage.
