I wonder how long it will stay there?
You found this on Google? You mean, this page before I deleted? I just figured fiction wasn't gonna go because no one seemed to be reading it. Maybe just not the right audience, no sense trying to dig up those old archives and repost them unless someone enjoys. Just thought I'd give it a try, fiction has sort of become a thing of the past these days.
What's the page on Google? I sure can't find it anywhere. That's kind of funny, actually.
Well if anyone wants to read it I can dig it up again, it's very old file from the late 1990's back when Altavista was IT.

Yes. That was it. I wish now I'd taken a screen shot of it. As soon as Google re-searched the site after you'd updated the post, the search result I got was no longer available.

I'm glad you've reposted the story; I'm enjoying it a great deal and looking forward to the rest of it.

But ...

... I'm a moderator and I have to ask: is there any way that we'd breach someone's copyright publishing this story on the forum?

Just the one story, to share for no profit, should fall under the rule of "excerpts for review." But if you have any concerns, then by all means, take it down. As far as I know the website and all its content has been long-defunct and never republished anywhere. I could not find this story anywhere on the web, I entered it into a plagiarism check and the only page that came up was this one.

Just my take but your call, that is one reason I just put up a little at a time.
I just got to thinking, if in doubt, best not put it up. The Web is a very different place than it was 20 years ago.
Sorry guys, there were too many ??? regarding ownership of this story; I figured it best not to put anyone in an uncomfortable spot.

To all who wish to read it, I'll see if I can temporarily host it in a dropbox using a link, so this site will not have to have any concerns.

The piece was from 1997, never thought sharing it on this forum would cause issues but Cormanus is right, you never know.

Drat! I didn't really mean for you to take it down if you genuinely believe it won't cause issues. I know Guthrie has been pretty careful in the past about things that attract copyright, even where they are freely available on the web.

We could leave it up until someone complains and then apologize and take it off. Or, as you say, host it somewhere else.

Let me know if you have a problem with that; I'll see if I can help.

That was my concern, I don't want to cause Guth any trouble. I'll work on it, I'll see if I can find somebody from back in the day who either knows or can find out about this particular material. If I can get a solid answer, then we are good.
