The girl we saw with the 2 tires strapped to her Honda/Harley was at a gas stop while riding with LR in Colorado. Forget where she was headed though.
That's about par for my K1200RS, especially for the front tire. Heavy bike.

I'm pushing 4000, the circle tour (
http://www.lakemichigancircletour.com)
should put me at about 6000.
Others have said these factory metzeler tires should be replaced between 3500-5000. I am replacing them with Michelin pr4 GT's
Quite a few of my miles have been on curves and wet rainy roads so they may not be wearing as fast but I just didn't want to worry about them during the trip.
I replace the CB tires about 4,000 also... didn't really need to but they were two years old and I wanted fresh tires for the rally..... compared to these tires that are 2 months old LOL

I ran PR4GTs on my ST ... Good tires. I usually got 9-10K out of them.
You might hear some front tire "noise" with the fairing on the BMW especially after you get some miles on them.
I'll be replacing the tires on the CB soon. I'm about 200 miles shy of 11,000 on these tires.

Geee... only?????
I know PR4GT and ST are different than PR3 and CB....but my CB made around 35000 km on the PR3 set ( and F/R still 5000 km left, easy, 85% long distance/hwy)
Which ones and what size are you gonna get for your CB ?

Smart move. I've twice made the mistake of taking off on a long road trip with a tire that I thought had enough tread left. It's amazing how quickly that last bit of thread disappears when you're 900 miles from home and riding a bike with unpopular tire sizes.

Peter.. You got over 21,000 miles out of a set of PR3's and still had tread left? HOLY COW! That's amazing
I'm putting on another ser of PR3's on the CB....120 front, 160 Rear

Mr the ferret, how do you find the 160 rear rides? Don’t you have clearance issues?

No clearance issues.A lot of us run the 160 PR3 on the rear of our bikes, both 13 & 14's. Rides fine. I have 30,000 miles on 160 rears on my 14 deluxe. This will be my first 120 front though since Michelin discontinued the 110 fronts. Redbirds and Flyn run the 120's on theirs no prob.

ok, good to know. I have a concern that I would be sacrificing corner handling. I rode in the mountains, performance comes before longevity for me. Can you or anyone else speak to cornering performance moving into a 160? Thanks!
