This. Other people's minds. It's what matters least. Rationalization and projection. I say do what you want, when you want to, with what you've got.

What is the average yearly mileage for a motorcycle?
Obviously mileage will vary from year to year and model to model. A simple guide could be to consider the type of bike you are looking at: If the bike is a sportbike 600 c.c. to 999 c.c., and since these bikes are traditionally weekend only bikes, you can expect to see lower miles, about 3,000 miles per year. Tourers or Sport Tourers usually see a lot of miles, but these are generally freeway miles, between 5,000 to 6,000 miles per year.
this site claims just over 1900 miles on average

That's right on the money
I have five bikes and all get ridden over our relatively short six-month riding season so each one only gets a few thousand miles on it every year.
Riding has to fit in around daily life and summer chores.
The two vintage bikes only get maybe 1000 miles each. The others quite a bit more, but the total is probably only 8000.

I try to ignore the cost , but it's around $1000.00.
The two vintage bikes are only about $150.00 each. They are registered as low-mileage infrequent-use antiques.
From what I hear, Ontario is brutal with bike insurance.

Here in Brampton/Ontario (most expensive), for my 2014 CB with full M since 2016 (backed by 2 moto courses, liability, theft and fire only, multiple insurance with 20% discount), I pay $860. Insurance did not take into account my European experience. Sure, we have more traffic, accidents, idiot riders/drivers here and make more money in ON than in NS...
Have a safe and happy riding season soon

PB: I concur with your rate and coverage/experience. So between us we are probably close to "local market rate". That does not mean local market rate is fair - heck no. Ontario (used to be Quebec once upon a time) has the poorest overall statistics for drivers. I just don't like the idea of my premium being affected by the pool of careless drivers, especially the surrounding Toronto proper region, which is the worst Ontario region.

yeah...and also in heavy populated areas, insurance harvests the highest premium ...if reckless driver insurance skyrocket, one will NOT buy it, therefore has to be spread more evenly among others ....politic$ = money
Rocky, your premium has to go up, so me and GO will pay less... : and for the saved money will visit you at your local/Halifax Tim Horton this season to discuss motorcycle & insurance issue..get ready

I ride about 10,000 per year so far with one week trip and several weekend of 3-4 days to other states, from PHX. But commute some less than 20 miles round trip!
Will wear her out in 2-3 years and change up to another bike before 100,000 miles on her!!!!
