Lifetime oil fill
#1
About 15 years ago, BMW promoted their newly-designed Paralever as having a “lifetime oil fill.” No gear oil changes for the life of the bike. Well, that didn’t work out too well for BMW. A few years later, the bikes again came with drain plugs and a recommended oil change interval.

Yesterday I picked up a used Toro lawnmower and guess what — lifetime oil fill! There’s no drain plug on the lusty Briggs & Stratton and no recommended oil change interval. I don’t think so! For once, I won’t be following the book.

Is there any dipstick to check the oil level, is it walk-behind or riding one??

My college-age son uses those Toro Recycler mowers for his landscape business and swears by them. For $369 they are pretty nice machines...and being his maintenance man, I cringed when I saw the claim that the oil never needs changed. I sneak off and change the oil halfway through the season every year, I can’t help myself! Dodgy

Blockhead, that’s the exact machine I bought. Glad to hear your son is pleased with them!

Yeah... I remember what my Paralever oil looked like when I drained it. Glad I did.

I think my push mower has one of those. I don't ever remember changing the oil in it lol

Are you sure it's not a 2-stroke? Cool

LOL yes...but I bought it new for $99 and it's 10 years old and still starts on the second pull, so if it gives up tomorrow I've gotten my moneys worth out of it.

If I can’t ride one, I’ll cut with one. [Image: 1a44ab78e66d4e177b32ec335d1a7c27.png]

I have one of those and I love it. Changing the oil is weird, but doesn’t make a mess.

I did add the metal side rail protectors. Not sure they are really needed. I guess it depends on your situation.

The only bad thing is there is no place for RLETS Smile
