Ah, the international language of %$#@*&
Good driving there, and anti-lock brakes, methinks!

OMG, thanks god you avoided.
Very good if not fantastic skills, and I think you chose to best option = going parallel. Arrive alive in one piece and scratch free, always.

The driver of the red car did well to avoid the crash with good braking, but made a tactical mistake by veering left, probably because of target fixation. He unintentionally tracked the path of the thing he wanted to avoid.
When a vehicle pulls out in front of you, you want to aim your bike toward the rear of the intruding vehicle. The hope is that you will ride through a clear zone where the vehicle had been seconds before. The whole problem of collision avoidance can be summed up as: disrupt the flow of events that cause two vehicles to occupy the same physical space at the same time. That gives you two vectors to avoid the crash: 1) change time (braking or accelerating) and/or 2) change position (maneuvering). Foul language following the incident but this is a good case study.

Scary thing- dumb*** driver couldn't see a big red vehicle- we have little hope despite anything we do to try to avoid such people.

I always go with the notion if someone is pulling out from a side street they don't see me.

I make it a game when I’m riding to try and predict what any vehicle in my field of vision would have to do in order to hurt me—and what would my evasive action be. It’s helped me avoid problems more than a few times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
