I like the stealth aspect, but of course, it brings the thought that, if you do get in a crash, you have a little camera ricocheting around inside your helmet.

Even cheaper and easier, sitting outside:

Yeah, did that back in 2010 for a trip down the north east U.S. It's okay, but you have the same problem of camera status (can't see the status), and images are not as good through the visor (if closed).

In retrospect, if the lithium battery ever exploded, say good-bye to an eyeball, possibly more.

The only time I dabbled with a helmet camera was my last trip from San Francisco to LA on highway 1 along the coast. But, not knowing what I was doing, the camera was pointed down and to the right, so all of my dramatic footage of the most beautiful road in the world just looked like I was perpetually trying to ride off of a cliff into the ocean.

Well, probably need to squirrel my money away for the time being anyway. I'd rather have food than a camera...

Guys just in case you were wondering if the little "shade" on the cam works here is a short clip comparing with and without it;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEtgeLlwjWI

Many times i srecordt straight into the sun and the result is now always good and it also eliminated some occasional pink flares that this camera exhibited , i was pleasantly surprised too.

It is cut so the edge is just outside the frame even when the image stabilisation goes"outside" the normal sensor area used for 1080 to maintain stability.

Lovely scenery, and interesting look with that chrome side cover.

I'll send that to my son, he was 3/4 into a Hawaii-Australia-NZ trip when he had to return home because NZ began its 14 day quarenteen for all new arrivals.

Thanks for the explanation, Max. From your earlier photo, I figured you had just built your own camera, sorta Flintstones style.

Wow, beautiful scenery. I'm afraid my goal would simply to be documenting my super-slab commute in case I have another unfortunate episode.

For these purposes would it not be better to use a bike “dash cam” hard-wired into your bike?

An example is the Innov k2 - https://www.innovv.com/innovv-k2

I’m sure there are a lot of similar products out there, offering continuous recording in a loop and automatically switched on and off with the bike ignition. This seems the easiest solution if it’s just for insurance purposes...

Yeah, Richard, but way more that I want to spend. Don't mind having something that needs to be removed and recharged every now and then.

But, the money that was going toward a camera, and hopefully new tires for the CB is now being squirreled away due to the current uncertainty.

This helmet camera seemed to have caught enough ...

[url=https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/motorcycle-police-video-1.5794427]Hamilton [Ontario] police review video that appears to show officer pulling man off motorcycle

Not sure how long this URL video will stay active.

Issue seems to be motivated by a hidden license plate.
