I recently corresponded with Canadian Trevor Marc Hughes, who is editing the the previously unpublished manuscript of Canadian motorcyclist, naturalist, and writer Hamilton Mack Laing's 1915 motorcycle journey across the United States from Brooklyn, New York to Oakland, California.
For a preview of Laing's journey, see Hughes's [url=https://ridermagazine.com/2018/12/22/laings-journey/]article in the December 2018 issue of Rider Magazine.
To pre-order Riding the Continent, the published account of the journey as edited by Hughes, [url=http://ronsdalepress.com/riding-the-continent/]visit this page.

Thank you very much! That would be a nice read before my ride across the USA.

Great find Stichill - thanks! Going to check this out. Also, kudos to the accompanying photographer (?) for capturing the moment-in-time so we can enjoy today.

Lol we travel across the country on 150 hp adv bikes with fairings and bags, with cruise, and abs, and tc with tubeless tires, on asphalt ribbons that stretch from horizon to horizon, sleeping in Holiday Inns and call it an adventure.
Those guys and others like them, were on ADVENTURES.

In the photo above, the air-cooled offset V-twin engine makes so much sense.

Yeaz, the Weekend Warrior can do it all, as long as they are home Sunday night to get the kids ready for school the next morning.

Can't possibly give this videolog of riding the TAT east to west any higher recommendation. It starts off with a misstep but stick with it and you will be delighted and enchanted.
