Something like a CB300F. I'd hate to get something too small for highway use, like a small scooter. That would limit her to small streets if she became confident enough to ride with me on day trips, and would negate my ability to commute with it if she abandons riding. She won't care much what it looks like, if I tell her its a good choice for her.
If she cared about pretty, she wouldn't be driving a grey CRV.

Speaking about women and motorcycles, about 26 years ago a good friend, a lady who had ridden on the back of many of her boy-friend's bikes, bought an 883 Sportster. She had taken lessons on a small 250cc bike, but didn't have the experience and wasn't foolish enough to ride it the 65 freeway miles from the dealership. I rode it home for her and parked it in her garage, parked facing out of the garage, and told her when she was ready to call and I'd come and help her, thinking we'd roll it out to the street and put her on it. Bright and early next morning she called and asked me to come help her get her new Harley out of her neighbor's swimming pool. She was excited to ride it and, when she popped the clutch, was so startled by the power, she froze while the bike careened down the driveway, across the street, over the curb and through the wooden fence, at which point she was swept off the bike and it launched into the neighbor's pool. We got it out of the pool and she had the dealership put it back in new condition. She has put many, many miles on bikes since, riding all over Europe, Japan, Cuba and the US, but has never managed to put another one in a swimming pool.

Choice of bike is all cart-before-the-horse at this point. I’ll remember not to point whatever it is out of the open garage. She could potentially end up in the neighbor’s living room.

I've bought my share of bikes that were the low-mileage result of "She just doesn't ride it enough". I would not mind a bike that I could use to keep daily mileage off of the CB1100. And, when she decides to ride with me, it would be ready for her as well.
If I were ever able to get my wife there, and I won’t, I would be sure it was a smaller, lightweight, DCT, simple, reliable and a “pretty” colored bike to give her every chance to like it. But since that will never happen and that bike doesn’t exist, I am off the hook.

I watched a new female rider pop the clutch and take off holding on for dear life until she hit the rail road tracks/gravel mound they're laid on and dumped the bike.
It was a few years ago when the Harley Street 750 was a new model. I recognized her and her husband from the bar i worked at (they were regulars) I was smart enough not to rub it in her face when I saw them next so I didnt discourage her from riding again. I believe she ended up getting rid of the bike though.
