2021 Rider Resolutions (Goals, Aspirations, and other such silliness)
#1
It’s the time of year when we traditionally reflect on the previous twelve months and look ahead to the next twelve. This year, I suspect that many of us be spending more time looking forward to 2021 than looking back at 2020. I, for one, will get an extra boost this year from hearing what motorcycle-related things you have planned for ‘21.

Here’s a look back to the first “resolution” thread that I created a few years ago.....

Let’s see your Moto-aspirations for 2021!

Very good MTC.

In terms of riding, 2020 likely was different for many than had been expected entering the year.

I did not expect to swap out the CB1100, but it happened. My soul is spiritually still connected to the CB, like there is a friendly ghost there. On the other hand, the 2020 workhorse has exceeded expectations.

Beyond control not imagined, missed was the 2020 CB1100 East Coast Rally. However, the very fine folks of the Forum rally planners reached out and helped ensure some of the spirit was felt nonetheless. With any luck in vaccination timing and other government coordination, the plan is to participate in the 2021 CB1100 East Coast Rally. We'll see how that goes. Currently, it looks too close to call.

Another machine in the plan? It is never ruled out.

2021 Motorcycling Goals

1. Continue my streak of riding at least once every month (started in March, 2014)
2. Attend the Eastern CB1100 Rally in Ohio (with my wife)
3. Ride 183 days (an average of every other day)
4. Ride at least 15,000 miles
5. Ride with Ferret
6. Visit at least 10 Tour of Honor sites
7. Visit at least 3 National Parks/Monuments on a motorcycle.
8. Complete my second SS 1000 (or other Iron Butt Association ride)
9. Ride in a state (or province? Wink ) in which I have never ridden.
10. Ride on the coldest day of 2021 in Chicagoland.
11. *new one* - Ride with my brother. He has decided to take up motorcycling at the age of 67. He did ride a bit when he was younger, but he's taking the MSF course in the Spring and is looking to buy a Triumph Bobber. He's a bit older than I am so it will be fun to be the "big brother" when it comes to riding.

-------
My new states (Goal #9) are likely to be Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, and possibly North Dakota. Our group's "big trip" is to Custer, SD (recommended by LongRanger). I recall that The Ferret needs to ride in either SD or ND (or both) so, if he wants to join us in Custer for all or part of the week of 7/3 - 7/9, just let me know and we can reserve another cabin at the Chalet Motor-court in Custer.

Mine's simple... Hope that the Petersen opens back up, so I can return to riding to my Happy Place on the weekend and share motorcycle and car stories with people. Other than that, continue to ride to my 9-5 daily.

And, maybe sneak in a few fun rides here and there. Up the coast to San Francisco would be nice, and if my cousin's in town, I'd have a place to stay.

I want to do the PCH ride.....but it is not on the docket for 2021. One problem I have is that I want to do it on my own motorcycle, not a rental and I want to ride with my wife. I think it's going to be a little bit before we have the time to allocate to a coastal California ride.

Empty, when you're ready to come out and do it, keep us here in CA posted! One reason to keep us posted is that due to our fire and mud slide seasons, Hwy 1 can be closed in some spots from time to time...

I plan to help my son get his motorcycle endorsement as soon as he can attend a MSF class. He'll be a senior in high school next year. I want to do a multi-day road trip with him in the summer.

Mine is to get my Sturgis and points beyond ride in this year that was missed in 2020.

Not that this year has been bad for me. I managed to get in a motorcycle vacation of a lifetime riding many of the best roads in the country with some awesome friends, the 2020 Eastern Rally that turned out pretty well despite Covid and I started a riding Meetup that had me riding most weekends throughout the PA, NJ, MD area with some great people.

I don't keep a close eye on miles like others do but I know I've done over 15000 easy this year so I'm happy.

We'll be in the general vicinity of Sturgis in early July. I assume you're heading to the rally, but if you happen to be out that way the first week of July, let me know. Smile
