Had the GRiso out yesterday. 40 degrees F. so the electrics were turned on. Didn't really need them and it was in the high 60's when we left the coffee house so most of my gear was stowed (thank goodness for large tank bags).

Doing the Tortilla Flat run on Wednesday. I plan on riding the Griso out there (couple years ago I froze so I'll be kitted up with electrics and the Griso has the poop to feed them all) while a buddy will ride my CB1100. Plan is to swap for the ride home.

Not all that keen on the ride this time; too many guys wanting to show off on a very poorly maintained road and in general just too many people. I prefer solo rides if we're riding. But there is some very interesting iron that shows up there so I'm very keen on seeing some interesting bikes. Then getting the hell out of there. Smile Two years ago when I was there last I picked up a hunk of metal on the Apache Trail about 6 miles from the road. Did not get home until 2 in the morning. Long day - no tire repair kit - left it at home. Tongue

Got in about 75 miles today. Temp hovered around 28 degrees.

Dusting of snow last night, but the streets were clear, especially the freeway. I may have figured out how to keep glove out of lens, but my mittens, not so much lol

Electrics came in handy today. My dual controller in the pocket of my tank bag where I can see and adjust heat..red for jacket liner, yellow for glove liners

Need 59 miles to turn over 37,000 on the ST. Will try and get that in tomorrow..New Years Eve.

Looks like I will end up just under 14,000 for the year.

Wednesday, New Years Day, accumulating mileage for the year starts all over again.

Thanks Great photos Ferret. I did my early riding in Tasmania—Australia's island state to the south of the mainland—and I miss the marked change of seasons you get. But riding in sub-zero temperatures requires real commitment.

It's a pity the CB1100 doesn't have the temperature gauge. I'm sure I once rode a CB400 (as a loaner when my Shadow was being serviced) that had one. It was really handy.

Ferret, you are one hard core rider Worship. While some people think I'm nuts riding in the summer when temps exceed 110F, you wouldn't catch me out on the bike when it's below freezing. Brrrr!

Back in my younger days my only transportation was a motorcycle , so I rode in whatever Mother Nature handed me (coldest ride I remember was around 12F). Even with a full snowmobile suit and Hippo Hands, I did not enjoy it.

Lol I used to be really hard core. Now, I have all this fancy riding gear including electrics. Makes being hard core pretty easy.

skies didn't show much promise

roads were mostly empty on this eve of the new year

I stopped for a photo op at a long unused covered bridge
[url=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/theferret111/media/newyearseve007_zpsa1ba094e.jpg.html][Image: 2e650b47e31352729c1cb3eb009140a8.jpg]

and stopped at a little roadside dairy that offered smoked ribs, but they were closed for the season

in the end I needed 59 miles to turn over 37,000 on the ST and I ended up riding 83

Tomorrow I start accumulating mileage all over again
