Riding out to watch the Trials Riders
#1

My son and I, he on his Triumph Tiger 800XC and my CB1100DLX, rode out to Lake Bridgeport yesterday. Our goal, to watch the NTTA (North Texas Trials Association) in their competition.

Unfortunately, we got there just as the event finished and they were having their Awards ceremony, but I hope to go back next week to watch, and possibly compete with my TLR200.

I did notice that the CB1100 handles the freeways alot better than my previous ride, a KLR650. I still need to do a little adjusting on the windshield as my head got knocked around quite a bit at higher speeds. There was never any lack of power for passing. It ran smoothly the entire way there and back. I need to "toughen up" my posterior as that got a little sore after awhile.

Photos of our bikes at a stop, my CB in the dirt parking lot and one with my CB and the "boomerang" trials bikes in the background. My CB handled the dirt and muddy road, but it is surely not an off-road bike.

I wish there were trials competitions in my area. Those guys are amazing to watch.

You may need try a smaller screen to get buffeting under control. The seat will break in after a while. At first I thought I would have to replace the original but it feels acceptable now.

"You may need try a smaller screen to get buffeting under control."

Or trim yours. Happiest medium seems to be with top edge of screen 8 1/2 to 10" above the ignition.

That is a good looking helmet

Have you guys swapped and ridden each others bikes? Interested to hear both opinions if you have

Thanks for the compliments, everyone. Do you think I could angle the windshield lower (more swept back) to make it work better?

The helmet is a SevenZeroSeven "Vendetta 3" I bought from CycleGear. If you're wondering about the stickers, I work in a Printshop and made them myself. I love the Wings and the contrast of the red & white.

Regarding the Tiger, I have ridden it a few times and it is quite nice. The triple sounds fantastic and it does not lack for power. I was considering the "road" version (Tiger 800) but I went with my CB. It just seems "top heavy" like my KLR650. Plus, they market them as adventure bikes to go offroad, but it is big and heavy. When we were at the Trials event, my son rode down the road to "see what it would do". I heard him say "Oh s***" in my communicator, as he nearly got in a situation he couldn't get out of.

He LOVES my CB and calls it "an upright sport bike". He loves the fit and finish of the Honda, the low seating for he and his girlfriend and the smooth power delivery. He tells me all the time how glad he is that I decided on the CB.

Do me a favor and as is measure from ign to top edge of shield..

As far as adjusting it? Possibly, worth a shot anyways. Drop it down to where it almost touches the headlight rim and scoot the bottom out until it is almost even with the headlight rim and go for a ride and see if it feels any better.

I measure it to be about 14" the top of the shield from the ignition switch.

I will try the lower angle and see how it works.
