White Mountain Arizona trip
#1

I just finished a 650 mile trip to the White Mountains this past weekend. It was the 21st annual trip with this group. We had two CB's-my 2013 and a 2014. Both bikes attracted much attention. The size and power appealed to the older members of our group who are finding the dressers to be a bit heavy in the parking lot. There were many guesses as to the vintage of the CB's which was fun.

The bike has enough power at all speeds to keep up and pass cars. It was remarkably stable in the 40-45 MPH gusty winds. 4000 RPM at 70mph in 5th gear. As advised, I constantly ran through the gears as part of the break in and 70mph in 3rd gear did not challenge the bike.

That being said, I wonder how the Power Commander or new pipes will help the performance. I love the Air Hawk 2 and the Rox 2" adjustable handlebar risers. I still think I might like handlebars to be a bit taller, however. There is not much room to place holders for radios, fuzz busters etc. I dumped the drink holder after the first 20 miles. The bars are just too shallow to accommodate it. Kept scratching my tank.

Anyway, here i am, over packed but ready for a successful trip. As much as I worried about highway pegs, with and without the wind I hardly used them. At 6'2", my position on the bike was perfect using the regular pegs.

I am so happy with this bike. I have never enjoyed riding a bike so much-ever. (I did wear a helmet)

Good one Geosar. You've sure got lots of gear on board.

"I'm so happy with this bike" is a very common sentiment around here. May you both cover many more happy miles together.

I think your CB is loaded with more gear than any I've seen on the forum. It's a great bike that always draws comments and your pics show it can really haul the gear. So who needs a dedicated touring bike? Thumbs Up

Have you tried giving the rear shocks a click higher setting, maybe that would help with all the gear?

Nice. Lol did you leave anything at home? Just kidding.

Been to the White Mountains several years ago when my wife toured Utah and AZ. Special place.

Yes, I did over pack but I did it because I could.

I stiffened the rear shocks and quite honestly I could not feel the load even in the high winds.

Like I said I have not experienced a ride like this. It feels light, but has enough power and low end torque to do anything you ask of it.

Dare I say, better than my Wee-Strom

Great pic and you really did have the bike packed. It is fun to see the different uses for our bikes.

Wow, well done mate. I try to keep the load down to this:

This bike is truly a great all rounder.

Cheers

Great photo, Ptero. How can you not love the lines and colors.

I have the same colors, but my motor is black. I kind of like the darkening exhaust pipes-a kind of badge of honor.
