My buddy Mike and I are riding up to his house in Suttons Bay, MI this weekend. We leave Friday and return Sunday. Friday and Sunday will be spent mostly on the wide, flat and straight roads, but we'll probably have a little time for backroading. Saturday morning should bring a sunny ride along the shores of the Leelanau Peninsula on Michigan Highway 22; you may have heard of it. We'll spend at least a portion of the afternoon at the Adams Fly Festival in Kingsley, which was the excuse <cough> I mean reason for taking the trip in the first place.

I hope to have pictures and a report that includes a review of my UClear Bluetooth device. This should be a great tune up ride before our big trip to the Ozarks starting on the 13th.

Great article, MG. Sadly, we will probably miss the pancakes in exchange for more riding time...ok so there's nothing "sadly" about that last statement, but I still loves me some pancakes.

Always looking for "excuses" for trips

I have a 500 mile ride set up for this summer where the"excuse" is that the place has great pie.

So...this will be different...

Due to forecasts of bad weather Sunday, Mike (this ride is his idea) decided to rent a trailer and cart our bikes part way to Traverse City. We will drop his truck and the trailer off sometime in the morning and continue on to our destination from there. On Sunday, we'll reverse the process and trailer the bikes through what we believe will be heavy traffic and heavy rain. I doubt I will warm up to this idea until I'm actually sitting in a dry car in heavy traffic on Sunday. Not my call, though. Pics and more reports to follow.

Pie is not an excuse, it is definitely a valid destination.
We found a great place for pie (not to mention awesome fried chicken and meat loaf) at Edna's Restaurant in Alabama while on the way to Barber from TN. a couple years ago
