Montana ride
#1

I am going to be starting a ride Thursday of this week. I need to take
care of some family legacy issues up in Montana. I'm not an
adventurer or anything. I'll be getting on I-15 and rolling as well as
I can up to Great Falls where my father's family is from. I am afraid
that for me "roughing it" will be hitting a motel on the road. I was in
my 30's and early 40's the last time I went on long hauls on a bike.
I've been from Atlantic to Pacific and from Maine to Fla. on rides.
With this situation coming up, it will give me a chance to finish out
on my dream/goal/??? to go from the Mexican boarder to the
Canadian boarder. I'll take a day from Great Falls and run to the
Canadian boarder to do it. Then at sometime in the future I'll make
the run to either Mexicali or to T.J. and cover it. I'll be taking my
cannon with me so hopefully I can bring back some shots from the
trip. I am looking forward to this ride on this bike. The first ride
PA to CA and back on my first Honda CB650 that went so well.
Notes when I get back gang. Ride safe.

I don't know Montana at all, Dave, but I wish you the best for your ride and look forward to your pictures and report in due course.

What's your route on I 15? You coming through Ogden? Could meet up for lunch or dinner. My CB has yet to see another in the flesh

Thank you all for the kind and safe wishes. It will not be boring that
is for sure. Yea. I'm gonna do this the easiest way that I can. I'll
be going up I-15 the whole way. Let me look at the route and I'll
get back to you on that lunch or dinner. My CB1100 has not seen
another one in the flesh either. Again, thank you all. Yes. as I said
I'll be taking my Cannon camera so there will at least be images. I can make no promises as to quality but......

Have a great trip!

Interstates are good for getting from point A to point B quickly. They're a lot less interesting than the back roads, but substantially faster. That said, if you have to go by Interstate, I-15 is a pretty good one. It's particularly scenic in Utah and going north from Idaho Falls.

Ride safe!

Thanks gang.
Frulk - it looks like tomorrow night will be in or around Los Vegas.
Then probably 250 or so miles up I-15 which will be some 60%
of the trip. That should put me in Ogden sometime mid afternoon or
so Sunday. I don't know how that works out for you. It is also
figuring that nothing goes wrong and the old body doesn't require
more rest than I hope.
Flynrider - I hear you on getting from A to B. I have been thru that
country before on a travel or two and even on the Interstate the
country is stunning to me. I really look forward to going back thru
that piece of 15 that goes up from Vegas into Utah. The rocks,
canyons, and tunnels as I remember then from last time were
stunning.
I took the time to load the bike tonight A) to see if I still remember
how from other trips of some time ago - I do B) to make sure it all
worked with no issues - It does. Actually, it works very much like the old CB650 that I rode across country and back. Memories.
