"Getting to know you."

I do not yet have 500 miles on my new CB1100 standard. Yet, each ride reveals to me additional bonding with this remarkable bike...I did some slab riding on the interstate yesterday and by sitting on a sheepskin and sitting quite forward on the seat, I did not experience any discomfort with my legs due to positioning on the pegs. (Every five miles or so I'd straighten my legs and move my feet well forward for a few seconds. Also, I did not have any irritation on my behind due to cushioning of the sheepskin. I have even gotten increasingly able to cope with riding without a windshield. (FYI I am 5'9" tall, have 29 inch inseam and weight 175).

(Nothing new here, I realize. I am just an old coot (1936 model) reliving my youth to the extent I can.)

Best to all.

Glad you are discovering how easy the CB is to live with. Ride on Bob!

I am sure you will enjoy the bike and bond with it the longer you have it.

Like you Bob, I become more comfortable with the CB every time I ride it.

The Forum rally last May was an eye opener for me. Living in south Georgia I have few challenging roads to ride. The mountain roads of western NC proved the CB to be an excellent handling bike, especially with the Michelin PR3's I had recently fitted. Just one more pleasing facet of this bike.

Bob, you and I share a lot in common; same size and age. I'll be 78 in two weeks.
I've had my CB since the spring of 2014 and more or less went through the same experience as you, but I haven't had any need to stretch my legs.
Compared to my other bikes, I found the CB a little heavy at first, but soon got used to it and now hardly notice it at all. I rarely ride on the slab and have yet to install a screen.
Too many slow and curvy coastal roads around here to enjoy to really need a screen.
Ride on; be safe, and above all, enjoy Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Go, Bob. This is a great bike. I've ridden mine for quite long distances in Australia and I don't have a screen. It's been just fine.

Thank you for your responses. I enjoyed each one. Last evening I was out and about just before dark and when the sun disappeared I still had 15 miles to go..Lemme tell ya that I really got chilled. I'll be buying a windshield and am on the lookout for one that blocks as much air as possible and does not cause buffeting...No hurry though...

There are NUMEROUS threads on windshields. Search on Street Shield for starters if you want and have fun! Ferret had a thread called Street Shield EX and that's a good place to start.
Here it is: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....+shield+ex

And another:

Not that you are limited to Street Shields, but its a place to start, and our threads tend to wander to other options.
