Ferret, boiled peanuts are a great delicacy. Boiled in brine the little "root nuts" become succulent legumes with a slightly nutty flavor. And bacon cannot be "ruined" by anything; it simply makes anything it touches taste better.

ROFL boiled peanuts are like eating slimy snot covered boogers. I had em in North Carolina. Local guy we went down and rode with loved them, and recommended them to us. All of us from the north tried em and wondered what had happened to his mind that could make him believe those were good. Peanuts are supposed to be dry....and crunchy.

I'm with Ferret on the boiled peanuts... just awful, actually more like disgusting. As for the onions and bacon... I love them both but that baked concoction does look a bit strange! Wait a minute... isn't this thread about a nice ride in the country?? ROFL

Never have understood boiling a peanut, ruins a perfectly good snack. A vidalia on the grill is excellent, never tried it with some ranch dip but will.

Nice area to ride in, my kind of neighborhood.

Well yea, with a southern country food diversion. I'm not the one that brought up the subject of onions, that was redbirds (I did bring up the peanuts though Blush)

Redbird's pictures of the vidalia onion harvest piqued my interest so I got a little carried away with some internet searches about those famous onions that I think are unique to Georgia. Is that right?

Here's a video that I thought was informative since I knew nothing about harvesting those onions.
