It was all a big fake done in a movie studio. Everybody knows that.

Just don't tell Buzz that he's a liar and did not walk on the moon. Watch a first class jerk get punched by an old man. Ben Franklin said "Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead". Something to remember.

As the NASA space probe Horizon passes Pluto today, thought this post was worth a second look.

Once again images from Horizon will be received via the Deep Space Tracking Station near Canberra.

Regards

Considering the fact that some 400,000 people worked on the Apollo program, tells me they really did land.

And thanks for resurrecting this post, I enjoy being reminded of those stunning accomplishment back when we really believed anything is possible. I recall some interview of one of the astronauts, maybe it was Buzz, where they admitted the belief at the time was a little less than 50% chance of success. All those old time test pilots- astronauts or not, had brass balls indeed.

I'm glad I finally looked at the dates of the original post... I'm sitting here wondering what the heck Pterydactal is talking about since it's only July 14th... Lol... Good report though!

Yes mate, last year. You may have noticed that the Apollo is held every 5 years. I hope to make it to the 2019 Apollo.

Cheers

Thanks noroomtomoove for bringing those memories back. It was one of the best rallies I have been to.

That would be a neat trick given that the space shuttle didn't come along until MANY years later, and never left earth orbit.

I think you are misremembering a couple of things.
First, You did not see the entire Lunar Excursion Module in the shot of Armstrong coming down the ladder. The camera was attached to the side of the LEM and you only saw a little more than the ladder itself.

Second, Why wouldn't you see the flag cast a shadow? It IS illuminated by the sun. You're thinking of the conspiracy theorists that said they saw the flag "wave", and there of course is no wind on the moon. If the flag did move, it was because it wasn't inserted all that deep in the lunar dust, and the astronauts "hopping" around made the ground shake in that 1/6th gravity of earth.

As the sun sets in the West I've just returned home watching the full moon rise, my memory recalled this post by Petrodactyl in June 2014 an apropriate revisit I think with the recent passing of John Glenn on December 8th.

Achieved at 7 inches to the gallon.

The Dish a tongue in cheek Australian perspective, this should put a smile on your dial.
