Second ride out & impressions
#1

Hi all. Just come in from my second ride out on my new RS and I will try to capture this in words in an interesting way for you...here goes. Ok, so its a warm sunny windy day here in beautiful Lincolnshire. I have just done about 90 miles or so and i deliberately hunted out country B roads where there was very little traffic and the speed limits ranged from 30 to 60 mph (just to give people overseas an idea). No motorways or dual carriageways. I always ride with open face helmet and goggles by the way (this is sort of relevant). It was brilliant. At one point I was sort of daydreamimg riding along doing about 45mph in 4th, not in a hurry to be anywhere particular, no cars in front or behind, just me and the bike, just going where the mood took me, the road was winding out ahead of me across rolling green fields sprinkled with red poppies and yellow flowers all along the green hedgerows both sides, i could see for miles ahead, stunning blue sky above with fluffy high clouds, i could smell the flowers and crops blowing about in the wind, the sun was above me and i glanced down at the red metallic tank and BOOM, i just had this really euphoric sensation wash over me. The chrome handle bars, the gauges in the sunshine, the red tank glistening and sparkling, the bike under me purring away, effortless. God it feels good to be alive and how lucky am i right here right now. It was a perfect moment. I hope some of you know what i am trying to explain. The rest of the ride was beautiful and i have not long got back. I absolutely love this bike, love it. This is the first bike I have ever owned that i am not going to do anything to, nothing. Mr Honda I salute you. Thanks

Nice narrative Jfro, and sounds like Honda accomplished everything they set out to do when making this motorcycle. Make the kindof bike that just makes you want to go for a ride.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I call it being in the "zone". I believe it is very similar to what alcoholics call "a moment of clarity", I have actually done some reading about the phenomena that we experience.

The first time it happened to me was Oct '87 on my '83 Honda CM450, I was 15 (riding without a license) on my way to my girlfriend's house. I knew I was hooked forever at that point.

Excellent write up sir . I got my “ new” 2014 hooligan black standard on Saturday and already have 400 miles on it . I was letting her warm up this morning before the ride to work and I was thinking the exact same thing .. other than tossing my Kriega bags on it for road trips the bike does not need anything changed . Perfect just as it is
