Ah, an expert! So...
If I loan my bike to a friend and he crashes it, is the bike covered? Is the friend covered? Will I be liable for any expenses in the case of a lawsuit or something? Will my rate skyrocket? Or does his auto insurance kick in?
And, can a friend buy his own insurance on my bike?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Remember...insurance rules differ from state to state and insurance policies differ from company to company so confirm any particular scenario with your licensed agent.

In general, though... Yes. Yes. If you mean for his injuries, probably not. Yes. Define "skyrocket"? It might, but in excess of your coverage. No, but he can buy his own liability policy to protect him from injuries he causes to someone while riding your bike.

YVW, but if I was a bit too concise, send me a PM and we can go into more specifics

OPERATION: DJANGO

We can do it boys. There’s got to be a reasonably easy and somewhat affordable way to have a nice German dude come ride around the states on a CB 1100. Right..? If not, shame on us.(a)

Also I agree with LR. You should spend some more time in Colorado if this comes to fruition.

The bottom line for Django;
Supply correct & professional US insurance/legal info for him + other help, will make his journey safe and pleasure to ride.
He is the one to make his final decision.
I'm sure we have some US insurance or legal experts here...LR or ES ???..I am not.

Thumbs Up

Empty Sea is our resident insurance agent guy. So I will totally defer to his expertise and advice. Django can PM him with questions.

MTC is the professional here. But I will be happy to provide expert guidance on not-to-miss motorcycling roads and routes throughout the Rocky Mtn area, including Colorado. You can accomplish much the same thing with Butler maps, though I can recommend specific routes that Butler ignores. Most important thing: Get off the interstate!
