Sea, in my expert opinion, this is the absolutely the best RLET repair part to carry with you in a case of an emergency:

My Honda dealer picked up my bike at my home today. No charge. I thought about riding it in, but there's something funky going on with the brakes (or the clutch, not sure) and I'd feel better if someone with more knowledge on the subject than myself would look it over. Besides, it's due for its 44,000 service anyway and they can install the bar-end weights which I messed up while adding Oxford heated grips.

As for my body. Swelling is down on the knee quite a bit. J3gq, my decision not to see a doctor was not because I think I'm "tough". I didn't have it looked at because at this point it's a waste of time -- I have full range of motion, I walk without limping, the swelling has decreased steadily. It's not about being "tough" or some fear of doctors. I just had a physical, in fact, just about 3 weeks ago. So, I appreciate your concern and that of others, but you can rest easy that my knee is on the same road to recovery as my bike. I just hope both turn off that road and on to Fully Recovered Rd. soon because my 70-month riding streak is on the line. Biker

That's great ! I didn't mean to sound as if I knew better, ... from a distance.
Wish you speedy recovery, like all the others !
PS: looking at the pic you sent me every few days or so. It's just lovely.

Empty, glad to hear that things are progressing with you, and with the bike. Good to hear that you had it transported. After the incident I had on my Bonneville last February, it was a long ride to the dealership to drop it off, and it felt really weird. In retrospect, I wish I would have had it taken there, since insurance would have picked it up.

Sounds like your knee is healing up as well. My wife would say that anything that you can do to avoid a medical facility right now is a good thing. Hope the knee continues to get stronger, and doesn't become an issue down the road.

Keep the good news coming!

Looks like the front brake is locked. Will find out more tomorrow. Until they found the brake problem, there was going to be no charge for the 44k service, the properly installing the bar weights, or fixing the mirror or clutch lever. If there are parts and more labor for the brakes, I'll pay a discounted price for that, but so far, my VIP service package has more than paid for itself. Now let's just hope that the brake issue is an easy fix.

Wonder if that is what caused your fall? Even on dry pavement and slow speed turn, lockingvthe front wheel will put you down in a hurry.

Oh and sometimes when pads get wet, they will temporarily lock themselves to the disc if they sit overnight, but pullingor pushing the bike should free them.

Maybe brake lever is twisted or jamming master push rod that prevent its free return and not revealing the composting port. Less likely kinked line.
Just pure guessing as I have no picture/report of the damage.
Brakes are not really a complicated design if one knows how to diagnose. ABS unit is more complex.
Let's hope for easy fix and resolution. Keep us posted.
How are you recovering so far????

Interesting. Can't think of a case elsewhere in my travels, but that would be disturbing.
