RE: CB1100 forum miles

All I know is what I like...

I had been a Bushmills drinker until a few years ago. One of my museum guests was wearing a shirt with a Macallan logo. He was asking a few questions about one of the cars after the tour, and I detected a Scottish accent. "Gotta ask... do you work for Macallan?" "Aye, that I do."

Asked him what he'd recommend for something that I might enjoy. He looked me up and down for a sec, and recommended their 12-year, double cask single malt. I've never gone back to anything else.

So it is possible to judge a book by its cover!

It's a case-by-case thing, Pdedse. Working at the museum, I'm in a uniform. I might look a little more... erudite... than I do in normal life.

Conversely, a fine wine from Paso Robles was recommended to me a while back. I figured as long as I was passing through the area, I'd check out the winery.
I was denied entrance, while more appropriately adorned persons were welcomed warmly.

Kind of like this?

Which is interesting because, while most Canadian whisky has some rye in it, Canada does not require rye to be included in the mash bill in order for the spirit to be called "Canadian Whisky". In fact, as I understand it, a Canadian distiller can label the spirit "Rye" with only a very small amount of rye (10% or maybe lower) in the mash bill. That differs from US rye whiskey which must contain 51% rye.

As for Scotch and Tev's comments, I know more about American whiskies than I do about Scotch (or Irish Whiskey for that matter), but I am partial to the Islay whiskies, my favorite being Lagavulin (16 when I have the $$ for it). I'm hoping to do a reasonable amount of comparison tasting while in Scotland and Ireland.

Canadian rye/whiskey doesn't have "strict" guidelines like perhaps bourbon, champagne, cognac, etc. etc.

Take Crown Royal for example: World renowned, but it is quite the mutt.

Canadian Club is closer to something straight. Personally, I don't give a rat's a*$. It just needs to work when I use and enjoy it.

I do respect standards set for scotch, Irish whiskey, etc. etc. A 25 year-old McCallan single malt is my personal benchmark for the best I have ever had. But it is not something I seek religiously versus that next ride on the Honda Africa Twin, the Moto Guzzi V85TT, and in the past the legendary Honda CB1100.

To be totally fair, I rolled up in a 13-year-old Honda, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. While my intent to pass the security gate was being scrutinized, many nicer cars were simply waved by.

My 2014 Wrangler just turned 70,000 miles. My 2013 CB1100 (but new with 0 miles in 2017).

Assuming average annual miles on both remains unchanged in the future, at what mileage will both odometers read the same? Show your work. Lol

Bonus: what date will both odometers be the same?
