How to set my new tank pad.

I ordered the Honda Accessory Tank Pad and will pick it up at the dealer tomorrow. Does anyone know how to set this self stick pad down so I can move it around a little before it's permanent?

Can you use a soap solution under it? How do you do that exactly.

Just put it in a spot close to what you think is best and stick it down with painters tape.Try it out and easy to remove to a different place

if it is self adhesive, you don't want to put it in place until you are certain it's where you want it.
I have installed a few tank pads and have found that you heat them with a heat gun until they are floppy, they will conform to the shape of the tank more readily and won't curl at the edges after a while. The ones I've used leave no room for you to change your mind once it is in place.

Get painters tape. Position on tank before removing adhesive backing. The painters tape should run center of pad across from side to side. Now you have 2 options & either will work. Wet: use spray bottle w/soapy water(not too much soap). Start removing adhesive backing from one end working back toward tape. Use scissors to cut backing @ tape area & be careful not to let pad touch itself or tank. Spray pad & tank with solution & slowly work pad down on tank from tape out to end using a plastic squeegee to remove air bubble & soapy water as you go. Repeat on other end of pad except just remove backing, nothing to cut. Check you have all bubbles water out. Let it set for 30 min. to remove outside film over pad if it has one. Works same way dry except you use nothing but squeegee. No soapy water. It's very easy & it will be where u want it.

I tape top end in place with painters tape, then remove half the backing (lower portion) apply bottom then remove remaining backing finish top portion. This gives you some "flexibility" to make sure everything is lined up correctly.
