Daytona Cozy High Seat & Honda Stencil

Like a couple of other members of this forum I recentally bought a Daytona Cozy seat and, like them, I love the look and comfort of it.
The only thing that irked was the fact that it didn't have Honda written on the back like the stock item. To rememdy this situation I found this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331023655445?...497.l2649) Honda stencil on ebay. I used a vinyl spray paint to paint the logo on and I think you'll agree that the end result looks stock.
I couldn't be happier.

Here is the paint I used, for the other Aussies on here I bought this at Supercheap Auto. I think this is originally intended for people restoring vinyl interiors. It's difficult to distinguish quality wise between this and the "Honda" on the factory seat. Colour wise this one is about one shade darker and has a slightly more matte finish.

As with any paint job, preperation is key. Sadly I didn't take many pictures while I did the measurements. Basically I measured the distance between the "grab strap" and the top and bottom of the seat to find the exact center. I then used a whiteboard marker to indicate where the top, bottom and each side of the stencil sticker should sit.
As the old addage goes "measure twice, cut once", once the sticker was on I measured at each corner of it to make sure it wouldn't be leaning to one side, which would obviously look very amerture.
After that it was simply a matter of copious use of newspaper and masking tape, followed by two very uncopious coats of paint, practicing on some old leather work boots beforehand to get my technique down and to see how the colour would turn out.
I did think of applying a third coat, however the ebay seller recommended two and I thought two looked fine, I quite like being able to see the pattern of the vinyl underneath, so I let it dry after two.
A final comparison to the stock item.
As you can tell in this photo the paint I used is a touch darker than stock.
All in all I reckon this is a great, simple mod to do if you'd like to buy an aftermarket seat but retain the factory look.
Just make sure you do your measurements over and over again!

Great job. It's funny how certain things do or don't matter to a person.While I'm sure to some it wouldn't be much of a bother I have always liked the Honda lettering on the rear of the seat and would really miss it if it were not there. So much so I would not want a seat without it. Nice solution!
