Help me decide (exhaust content)

The bike is a '14 Standard. I really don't like chrome very much at all, but I don't want my bike to be completely black...there has to be some contrast. Stock the bike comes pretty well blacked out except the chrome fenders and exhaust. I'd like to change one of these to black, and leave the other to serve as the contrast. I also think the stock exhaust is WAY too quiet.

Here are what seem to be the two best options:

A: black exhaust, chrome fenders. Pick up the full Yoshi black exhaust, and that's it.
B: chrome exhaust, black fenders. Pick up a Staintune slipon and some black fenders from samurider.

I'm leaning more towards A because I think that'd look a bit better, but I'm concerned the exhaust wouldn't be loud enough. B is a good option too, but it would be more expensive and more work.

Thoughts? I put up a poll but I'd appreciate a little feedback as to why you chose the one you did.
Feel free to offer another suggestion, but please keep price range in mind.

If it were me, I'd go with the Yoshi exhaust and call it a day. The chrome fenders are a nice contrast point, bookending the bike.

Given the fact that you don't like chrome, I'd suggest having the fenders painted silver to maintain some contrast, but rid yourself of those two big chunks of chrome. I love the Staintune slip-on, but since I recommended the silver fenders, I'd suggest an all black exhaust setup like [url=http://www.samurider.com/?p=6461]this one from Yoshimura.

Thanks for the replies. I don't mind chrome on this bike, I just want to limit the amount. I think silver would look off in that everything on the bike is either gloss black, matte black, or chrome. Introducing a new "color" wouldn't look right to me.

I guess I'm really concerned that the yoshi won't be loud enough for my tastes, and I'll have to go the other route. I hate not being able to hear the exhaust on the road. This is my first bike with an rpm gauge; I'm used to using my ears to let me know when to shift.

No offense, but I'm sort of confused by this. The pipe appears to cost twice what the other options do, it isn't black, and then I add even more chrome to the bike with the covers?

Yeah, it's more of an old school look along the lines of a mid-60's Bonneville or Honda's own Black Bomber (CB450). Just trying to stay somewhat within your design parameters.

If I was tasked with styling your bike, I'd skip making it even more black by also painting the side covers silver to match the fenders that I just painted. Then I'd leave the exhaust shiny but slap a Staintune on it, just because I like the exhaust note so much.

I count myself lucky that I like my bike the way it is. Hope you get yours to that point. Good luck!

Interesting.

It might be cool do go black fenders and exhaust, and then have a silver side covers. So it's basically "murdered" except the covers, but that's well out of my price range. I set a limit for how much I was going to spend on farkling this guy.

I'm still leaning pretty hard on the yoshi exhaust only, but I'm also still worried about how loud it will be. Some videos make it sound basically like the stock exhaust and some make it sound loud and mean. Are there different baffles?

I agree on the problem of stock exhaust being way too quiet! Which exhaust mod is the loudest? I'm working on modifying a stock muffler, not loud enough yet, but I'm working on it. ;-)
