2014 CB1100 mods...

I'm new to the forum and recently purchased a 2014 standard CB. I've been following mods done by the members...especially CIP57 and Ridem32 because of the ECU flashes. I have a basic idea of what I want from the bike. In fact, I've already ordered the full Yoshi and a K&N filter. I will have the ECU flashed when I'm closer to the initial break in completion. I would like to install all the mods together to realize the best gains at once. My questions are relating to the ECU flash and intake mods.
1. I was looking at the TSR air box funnel as well as the 4 smaller intake funnels from TSR ($$$. It seems that those 4 funnels open up a deliberate air restriction that Honda has on the intake. My question is: Will those 4 funnels really help (Samurider dyno chart says they will)? They are a bit spendy and I don't want parts just for the sake of having them. I have seen the post from CIP57 about the cheaper air box mod...by-passing TSR all together. That may be my route as well if there is not a good argument for the TSR parts.

2. Besides the full Yoshi and intake mods, will the ECU flash alone take care of my fuel needs? I see that a lot of folks are using the Power Commander for fuel needs but saw a few posts that said a good re-flash makes other fuel mods somewhat obsolete. I will be sending my ECU to Don with a list of mods so he can give me an accurate re-flash.

3. I guess the final question is: Has Don in fact gotten a CB to dyno or 'tinker' with? I have seen that everyone seems pleased with their re-flash and have seen nice gains or a more 'freed-up' motor as a result. He will get my ECU either way.

Probably won't go with the TSR 4 funnel kit. I like the potential but not the price and not the install(mods needed). I will still have to address fuel supply.

Give Don a call by phone and tell him your mods. You want need the PC5. I would leave my air box stock. The CB11 gets enough air. Save your money on that. I have not talked to Don in a few weeks not sure if he has had a CB11 to dyno yet! Don is good and honest and for $375 including over nite shipping back to you it's the best deal going! Even for guys not wanting a speed demon the bike just pure runs better flashed due to emissions etc! I met up with a guy yesterday that I met from the CB1000r forum he rode my bike I rode his he could not believe how good and fast my standard bike was! But his bike is fast also. He just thought the CB11 would be just a putt putt bike lol

Thanks for the reply Ridem32. From what I've gathered, I will need the full exhaust and the ECU re-flash...air box mods optional. I have seen info in the forum about the O2 sensor and it sounds like it runs better without it on a full exhaust...getting it closer to the optimum fuel/air ratio...? I can do the PAIR mod if I detect too much decel popping. I'll try another search within the forum on the O2 sensor. I also look forward to dealing with Don. Thanks again.

Welcome. Good to know there's more interest in the same mods I'm looking to do. Haven't got my '14 STD yet, but love exploring the possibilities.

I have the deluxe ( duel exhaust ) duel 02 sensors. I ask Don about unhooking them and using the dummy plugs for the wiring harness! He said I might gain small amount but would most likely loose mpg. But with you getting a exhaust Don will know what to do and he can remap! You and him can decide all that.

Be curious to know what the A/F ratio is under load (dyno runs). Wondering how much the stock injectors will be capable of (band width) as more & more mods increase air flow.

As the CB1100's become more popular; more innovative ideas will come. I remember the CBX, didn't take long for the turbos and blowers to be part of the game.

Exciting times... I have seen graphs in this forum with exactly that data. An optimum air/fuel ratio of 13:1ish can be achieved without catalytic and with the O2 sensor removed. Ridem32 talked a little about it above. As far as injector capabilities...it sounds like the ECU re-flash and FI system has a lot of latitude. Like you said, time will tell.
