Three low cost farkles

I recently added three low cost farkles to my EX.
The analog oil temperature meter adds a bit of steam punk style; then I took a small brush and gold spray paint and had a go at the rings of the brake disks. Makes them look expensive!


Note that the bubble in the glycerine (to absorb the vibrations) is there on purpose so the glycerine can expand and not break the glass. This is the thermometer with the 6mm stub facing inwards.


What a 6EUR gold spray paint and a brush can do... I was careful not to overdo it in case I wouldn't like the result. But it turned out great, especially in the sun. Maye I should have a go at the ABS sensor wheel...


In the German CB1100 forum someone offered stickers in Japanese reading "Designed by Mitsuyoshi Kohama" but I believe I've been scammed and they actually read "This rider was ripped by Honda".

The manufacturer ID is BH12-0314, EAN: 4043981006827. Yes, I believe it's mostly the oil flung around (I'm not a mechanic, so don't take my word). And certainly also contact with the casing. It takes a long time to fall back to 20 when the casing is hot after a ride.

On my 45min rides it goes up to 80 degree celsius and mostly stays there, even in hot weather. I'm not a hotspur and rev the bike mostly between 3 and 4000. The air/oil cooling obviously works great!

Harley V-Twin riders around here run with digital oil temp gauges. I have been looking for them with no success. Thank you for finding an option. Have to keep that link.

No need to pull the wheel off. Spray the paint in a small container, then use fine (2mm) brush and apply paint on ring and the inner cylindrical surface. I didn't bother to paint the far side of the ring; it's next to impossible to reach past the brake discs and between the spokes, as you can see here:

I applied your front disk brake farkle to my 2013 non-ABS bike:



It was a very easy farkle. Use a T30 torx bit to remove the bolts and remove the collars. Clean, prime, paint the collars and reinstall.

Once done, I ordered a 38T rear sprocket in matte gold from Mt T. to add some color to the rear.
