I successfully used the extra power plug in the headlight to wire in my radar detector. Well, actually, an adapter receptacle for the RD plug. Once I got the cover off the connector I was able to push both wires out, then opened the pins, laid my adapter wires in the pins and crimped them tight. So, I avoided the headache of trying to locate the male part of that crazy-looking plug. If the crimping ever fails, I'll go back inside and solder the wires in place. So far, however, everything works as it should. BTW, the wires from the harness to the plug were just over one inch long--not enough length to attempt a splice with my fumbly fingers.
