If you have light leaking around the headlight, there is a Chip Beck fix for that in the How-To section of the forum. Plus another fix that another member came up with that I used. I have a RC 1 though and I think the leak is worse on those.

I didn't notice the space around the headlight as an issue. I thought it may produce unwanted noise but after an 85-90 mph test ride, all seems well. The space around the headlight I can live with.

Hey someone else in Southern California! I still haven't seen another CB1100 out and about but keeping my eyes open. I'm in Buena Park.
