I originally wanted to do a "build thread" but got ahead of myself swapping/installing things on the bike over the last couple weeks. So, at this point, I'm just posting a mods/accessories list to summarize my progress thus far. I know as a new CB owner and relatively fresh member of the forum, I checked in a lot to see what others were doing to their bikes to make them unique, stylish, functional and perform better... just figured I'd pass that same thing along in sharing what I've done to mine. Cool

Pic is for general reference... If anyone wants more details on a particular part, just ask (I did all the installations myself too)!

Here's the list:

2016 EX Special Edition Tank - Titanium Blade Metallic/Darkness Black Metallic
Honda Front Fender - Darkness Black Metallic
Honda Rear Fender - Darkness Black Metallic
Honda Side Covers - Darkness Black Metallic
Chic Design RC1 Fairing - Titanium Blade Metallic/Darkness Black Metallic/Smoke Screen
Honda CB1100 Type II Handlebars
Honda Heated Grips
Bikemaster Old School Mirrors
K&S Mini Rectangle Turn Signals - Chrome/Smoke (metal construction)
Plot Chain Guard
Custom License Plate Mount & Frame
'17 EX Chrome Gauge Covers
'17 EX Air Cleaner Covers
'17 RS Seat
Removed Fork Reflectors

I'm pretty sure I want to go with silver side covers instead of black. However, I'll probably paint the DLX style ones instead of keeping the '13 type that I had on it originally. And the jury is still out on the RS seat; it looks good but doesn't fit perfectly at the tank which causes the material to bunch/ripple in the center of the seat. Considering having an upholstery shop reshape it or go with a stock DLX or Corbin as a long term option.

Still mulling over options for an exhaust and potential suspension upgrades, but that's all part of phase two! LOL

Hi Flytech,

Great looking bike! Can you provide part numbers for the '17 EX chrome gauge covers and air cleaner covers?

Thanks!

Hi Flytech,

Here are the part numbers for the 2017 meter and air cleaner covers...

Speedometer: 37102-MGC-JB1
Tachometer: 37103-MGC-JB1

Air Cleaner, Left: 17265-MGC-JB0 & 17252-MGC-JB0 (chrome insert)
Air Cleaner, Right: 17260-MGC-JB0 & 17251-MGC-JB0 (chrome insert)

I purchased my parts from Partszilla and my local dealer. I’m assuming you should be able to do the same in Canada.

How do you like the Bikemaster mirrors? They look great, was wondering if they vibrate. How happy are you with them so far?

Thanks! I needed a seat for my DLX and chose the ‘17 seat for its sportier look and low visual profile. After riding on it for a bit, I don’t love it. The fit is snug at the tank and causes the cover to ripple and bunch in the seating area. More importantly, the coarse material really attracts dirt and debris and is a pain to clean versus the smooth vinyl. I’m still debating on what to do with it long term so I’m interested to see how you like your custom seat.

As far as the mirrors, I’m very pleased. They are stable at speed with a similar size view as the stock lollipops. Fit and finish is very good considering the price point. My only gripe would be that it did take some extra effort and time to get them adjusted and aligned due to how they tighten. I’d definitely recommend them!

That's good to hear, I'm going to take a closer look at them.

I got the seat back from the upholsterer and I like how it turned out. I took the stock 2013 seat and had an inch taken out except where it meets the tank.

Flytech,

Did the part numbers for the chrome meter covers change in your post? I thought the part numbers posted were as follows:

Speedo cover: 37102-MGC-N41
Tach Cover: 37103-MGC-N41

These part numbers are what I ordered, but they are the black ones (see pic). I'd like to get the chrome ones, and want to make sure I get the part number right.

Thanks.
