2014 Std Modifications

I'm sure you've covered before. What have been your top 3 to 4 modifications/upgrades on your '14 std. that a new owner should consider for comfort or convenience?

Purchased my "new" '14 yesterday and would appreciate some insight.

Seats, Shields, USB mount, Rack, Bags (tank or otherwise), Yoshimura, Dynojet...?

Recommendations are welcome!

Grip Puppies and rlets, that's all you need! lol

So far just the OEM rear rack. OEM engine guards and Corbin seat with backrest are next.

I've done quite a few. I love to tinker. In order of improvement, for my riding style and use anyway;

K&H medium seat
Staintune Slip-on Muffler
Handle bar lift and back
OEM rear rack
CB500 black mirrors
ECU remap
Grip Puppies
Babyface crash protection sliders
Jet Hot header coating
Desinged and built mounting system for Dewalt Tough System cases
Rear tail light downsize
RLETS
Gators
2017 CB1100 airbox covers
Removed stickers and reflectors
Painted headlight mounts, black
Sanded and polished head fin edges
Dowco Iron Rider overnight, Rear soft case

1. Factory engine guards
2. LED brake/taillight
3. Snorkel mod (mainly for sound)
4. Tools (sockets, wrenches, pliers), tire pump, Sean N Air, tire plug kit under the seat
Everything else stock is fine for me, although I have scrambler tires on order.

Oh, almost forgot the most important. MEE M6 pro ear buds with Comply isolation ear bud tips. Love them. They eliminate noise, sound great, and fit well in a tight fitting helmet.

Start with the mods which will keep you riding. Consider your contact points with the bike:

- Seat: Do you like stock or do you want something else?
- Grips: Do you want grip puppies or heated grips?
- Bars: Higher with risers or a lower bar?
- Pegs: Do you want lower pegs or highway bars/pegs?

Then consider other comfort/utility/performance mods:

- Windscreen?
- Rack/box/panniers?
- Tires?
- Gearing/sprocket?
- Exhaust?

Then consider style mods.

Mixed in with all of those (preferably towards the beginning), consider mods which will make you a better rider: Protective gear, riding classes, etc.

That's how I approach mods with my motorcycles. Choose what's important to you, then you'll find a wealth of information on each mod in the different threads here on the forum.

This info. is spot-on, exactly what I was hoping for.

For the seat especially, what has the consensus become for 30min-2 hour rides. I've seen a lot of Corbin plus 1/2" foam & the '14 Deluxe option...

I'm just under 6'0" & 175lbs.
