Really? 25 pages of owners enamored with the Staintune and you are going to pick this thread to dis our favourite exhaust? Biker

Don't get me started on how poorly the stock heat shield looks and fits on the Arrow...pick your battles and "battlefields" carefully my friend! Wink

You're right about the heat shield but I wasn't trying to pick a fight by posting that or was trying to be rude at all.
I wasn't trying to "pick a battle". Let alone an Internet forum battle. Are you?

I truly apologize to anybody offended though. Except you Gumby.

Gumby, I'm not buying into this conversation other than to say that, if you're going after someone, be careful to get his or her name correct. cb4me? (my emphasis) is not CB4ME. The latter had a beautifully modified CB1100 which left us prematurely at the hands of a church van. Luckily its rider, who was badly hurt, has recovered well and returned to riding. The story is [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9573]here.

Thank you for pointing out what I should have realized before posting.

No disrespect was ever intended, and I thought that the winking smiley made my lack of seriousness obvious. That smiley may have been missed, just like I missed the punctuation in cb4me?'s tag. It was always my understanding that a winking smiley indicated that the preceding comments were either a joke or not to be taken seriously. Either this has changed, or the smiley wasn't big enough to make my intent clear. I admit that I can be quick to a fault to point out an erroneous technical opinion or what I feel to be a CB "fashion faux pas", but I never wanted it to appear that one of my comments was posted in order to pick a fight. Everything was meant in jest.

In conclusion, if my post caused anyone, especially cb4me? to infer any animosity on my part, I apologize.

Well, I guess that I deserve that.

To be honest, I didn't feel that your post was rude, offensive, or even close to "fighting words." It actually made me laugh. I just found it so incongruous that you would drop a wide-eyed Arrow post in the midst of what is essentially a "Staintune Owners" thread. In the future, I promise to make it more obvious when I am ribbing you. How big can you make a smiley anyway?

The riding biker and winking smiley made it pretty obvious to me.

I have owned an Arrow full exhaust before. Horrible fitment and build quality. Never again.

If it makes anyone feel better i'd like to take one for the team by unofficially and totally inaccurately stating that all aftermarket exhaust are garbage apart from the one fitted to my bike at any given moment in time.

Smiles, winks, nods and a cheeky bum slap to everyone.

RE: Staintune Exhaust

Picked up my Staintune yesterday and the install hasn't gone as anticipated. I removed the heat shield and attached it to the slip on w/o any problems. Slipping the Staintune onto the pipe is the issue. I can't slide it on far enough to where the mounting slot in the ST bracket lines up with the hole above the passenger foot peg. There is a collar wrapped with some kind of reflective material located on the pipe that seems to be preventing me from pushing the Staintune on any further. Am I doing something wrong?

Nevermind - got that collar off and the Staintune slid right on! Sounds and looks great!

I can only assume the collar was supposed to come off with the original.
