Staintune Exhaust

redReno, that's awesome, I saved you 87 dollars! I feel like I did my good deed for the day now, lol!

The install of the Staintune is made much easier by remembering how you disassembled/removed the stock exhaust, but the service manual will be a nice aid too. Staintune also includes a nice little glossy brochure which includes a photo of their CB1100 exhaust -- it's a good reference for how the muffler hanger bolt assembly should look when installed on their muffler.
Also remember to recheck the hanger bolt and collector clamp fastener after your first ride with the new muffler -- the collector clamp on mine was still a little loose after its first ride, so I tightened it a little more and it seems good now.

Oh man, your wait is gonna be worse than mine, I'm afraid to say. I didn't have my bike yet, so the Staintune was kind of secondary. I was so focused on getting the bike that the muffler was just kind of an afterthought -- it arrived the day before I picked up the bike. On the upside, though, mine did get here a week and a half before they said it would. Hang in there, my friend, the wait will make it that much sweeter when you get it.

Deft, I haven't checked MPG yet. It would be pretty pointless at this stage as I'm only up to about 300 miles on the odometer and am constantly up and down the gears or varying my speed at all times during the break-in, which has to hurt gas mileage.

In any event, I don't really worry too much about mpg on my bikes. I'll try to give you a mpg report when I do run through a tank after the break-in.

Yeah, I'm with you on not caring too much about MPG, but what I do care about is range (since this is my comfortable, reliable bike). I'm excited to hear your impressions.

It's really too bad they didn't include MPG on the instrument display. My Yamaha shows instantaneous and average MPG on the display if you have it set to that. I always leave it set on either air temp. (fahrenheit) or motor temp., but rarely even look at the MPG.

Funny thing is I monitor my car's MPG pretty carefully, but that' probably just because cars are more boring and it gives me something to do!

I asked her what she thought about me ordering it, she said, "oh you haven't ordered it already?"

She doesn't like how quiet the CB11 is either and also looks forward to a better sound.
