Had my first ride on the CB 1100 yeaterday.
My first impressions were :
The bike is easy to ride
Engine great
Sounds beautiful
Brakes Good
Power adequate
Riding position seems ok need to do a longer ride before i make any changes
Suspension could do with some improvement although i'm yet to play around with the settings
Overall the bike is a typical Honda and im expecting that typical Honda reliability will follow

I’m guessing it will be a 2010 or 2011.

Regarding our first ride reports, mrichi and I offered just slightly different versions.

Congrat on your 1st ride. I can't remember my 1st impression, but i still like how my stock CB ride. ... I think stock suspensions are adequate for normal ride. For spirited ride, i set it to the harder side or else the front will dive and rear fishtailing when hard brake, but ready for a sore butt. For long journey, a little bit of windshield protection goes a long way. Only thing i don't like during long tour is the footpeg position. Just can't get the right position with stock peg.

Congratulations on your first ride!
I remember my first ride on the CB a little over a year ago. The original owner was a little reluctant to sell, and every time I came back from the test ride, he kept sending me back out, saying "You didn't ride it long enough... take it out for a longer ride." Apparently he was hoping that the sore butt that zirconxi mentioned would set in, and I'd change my mind about buying it.

The power of the first ride on a CB1100. A friend's son was looking to buy his first bike. Had become enthralled with the retro look of the CB1100 and found a used 2014 for sale at a local dealer. He didn't have his motorcycle endorsement yet, so he couldn't test drive it. I told him I'd do that for him.
*Full disclosure--I've always thought the CB1100 was awesome and was excited to finally get to ride one**
I wasn't 100 yards out of the dealer and 2 thoughts came to mind. 1) too much bike for a first bike and 2) I must have one.
2 days later, I'm riding a 2017 EX with 1700 miles home from a different dealer in Dallas.
Powerful bike, this one. In many ways.
