Remember the 13 has a 5 speed and the 14 has a 6 speed if that matters to you.

They’re out there. I offered mine last year for $5900, then $5700, but there was no interest.

I was really hoping to find a ‘14 DLX but they’re very scarce (like my motorcycle budget). Trying to get more details from the seller. As some have mentioned, you might be able to pick this example up for less money than the asking price. Generally speaking, at this point in time the majority of people who desire a CB1100 have already obtained one. This applies to all CB1100 models. So if you are really wanting a '14 DLX chances are that you'll likely find one eventually but the price will likely be closer to $5K than $4K. As has already been mentioned, you'll need to be rather patient to do so. As far as the bike in question is concerned as it relates to your needs, I think it would make a fine choice, as would any CB1100. At a curb (wet) weight of 540 lbs., the 2013 (and 2014) Standard model is as light as it gets in the world of the CB1100. The '14 DLX model adds another 31 lbs. While the 2017 EX models weigh 22 lbs. more than the previous Standards. I personally would not trade my 2013 model for any of the other variations that came along later. I've used my CB1100 in precisely the manner that you've described when it comes to your own needs. I would be fine with the 6-speed transmission that came with the later variations, but I'm not willing to give up the looks of the 2013 model for any of the others that came after it. Your own preferences will likely end up setting the course of action that you decide to take.

It looks completely stock, so you wouldn't have to "undo" mods that you don't like. It's a blank canvas and looks nice. Take some Blue Magic ($6 at Walmart) to those pipes and they'd clean up like new with a little effort, and stay new with less effort. For reference, I bought my '13 a year ago for $4700 with 1700 miles. It was a spotless garage queen. The two mods were a Dart flyscreen and frame sliders. I would have bought a Dart if it didn't already have one, and the sliders were a nice bonus.
As everyone has mentioned, the big difference is the '13-only five speed. If you care about the level of shine on the pipes, you'd have to keep up with it, as the deluxe models have chrome covers over the pipes. Lots of people like the shape of the smaller standard / '13 tank. It's all a list of preferences you need to make sure you're cool with. I remember the "smack me in the face" feeling I had when I first saw a '13 in a dealership, and like Guth, I think it's the nicest looking model. I have a freeway commute that keeps me at 70 mph or so for a good part of my ride (with the reduced virus traffic, almost need to go 85 to avoid getting run over). The lack of a sixth gear doesn't bother me in the least.

It’s a fair price, go see the gentleman and if you like the bike pull out a handful of cash. Negotiations always go better when cash is visible. Asking price is only that, a place to begin.
CB1100 is a solid dependable bike that will run forever.

If the guy doesn't budge its still a great deal. 16K is still pretty low mileage. My last good bike b4 my 13 standard I paid $3500 with 8k miles on it......it was a 2005 Kaw Z750S that new went for about $7500. I ended up putting 46K on it with zero problems b4 I sold it...I have a feeling this bike will serve me just as well. Here's as link to Autotrader's CB1100's as you will see the prices and mileage is all over the place and $4500 seems fair.

I paid $4500 for my 2014 standard with just under 6000 miles.
I’d buy it.

Tried twice to get a Deluxe, BOTH sold out from under me by two different dealerships. (Which I no longer look at their used/new bikes. I paid $5100 for one with 6k miles, Corbin seat, and Yoshimura exhaust. I sold the seat for $200, so it was $4900 out of pocket. He claimed it had never been ridden in the rain or dropped. I know the rain part sounds fishy, so I had the owner of the Honda shop here look it over, and under. He found absolutely no rust anywhere, and said, "You did well!" I have already put over 2k miles on it, love it. I have seen some cheaper than I paid and a lot out there for $6000. Sorry to get long winded, but if it is good shape, no rust or dings, offer $4200. If he will not budge, I would say, buy it. If it needs to new tires, watch out. that is a good chunk of change to buy and mount. I think I got a good deal, regardless of how little some claim to have paid, and I have never looked back! |
