Yes, the ribbon cable needs to be rolled up into a protective sheath or replaced with a standard cable bundle. A freeway stone will take the ribbon out in one shot.

Question:

Can air temperature be measured to say down to -25C or lower?

Thanks Smile I like the rotary thingy too... Air temp sensor element is a Dallas DS18b20: Measures Temperatures from -55°C to +125°C (-67°F to +257°F), ±0.5°C Accuracy from -10°C to +85°C.

What is the display/reading of the oil temperature when the engine is fully warmed-up?

Don’t know yet - since finalized calibration she’s been locked up in the garage... Still raining...

Awesome - really.

Csory: I like that you concentrated your I/O sensors and abstracted the UI as you did. This makes the unit "portable" to another bike should the owner want to keep it.

Did a quick test-run today Biker. (Rain gave up, finally Celebrate ) Daylight visibility - my biggest concern - is a non-issue. Just about the same as of the center console. Oil temp goes up to "warm" (= above 160F or 70C) within 6..7 minutes after start. Then it hovers around 200F (93C), depending on engine load and ambient temperature. (Ambient was around 70F or 20C). Driving through foresty-hilly areas, where ambient was more like 65F, it dropped to 190F. Once back in town, while being stopped at the traffic lights, it kept slowly crawling up (saw it going as high as 220F or 105C), but rolling forward just for a few seconds made it drop again. Battery voltage was about 13.5V during the entire ride. To sum it up: gadget MkII worked as expected Smile

Now working on a "generic" rectangular housing in both black and silver, that would look good on pre-2014 CB's (or any other bike). The current housing is too much custom tailored for the top protrusion of the center console of past-'14 CBs.

Csory, excellent tech info. It tracks almost exactly with what I see using the Trail Tech spade type sensor between the oil cooler fins.

Very nice work and a very nice device you have developed.

We are so lucky that Csory has developed this, initially at least with the CB1100 in mind.

How about, apart from the "standard" housing, offering an extra-cost motorcycle-specific, thin outer housing? The later CB1100s would have an almost triangular "outer housing" - other motorcycles could have a different shape available if their dash was suitable? Just an idea.

Thanks for the tip. An additional "thin" housing would be unnecessarily add to the bulk - since each housing is custom made on a 3D printer, it can be individually formed to the user's requirements Smile If one can give me exact dimensions, I can print a matching housing... Problem would be taking measurements of a complex 3D shape. Hence my effort to provide a housing that would be good for as many makes and models as possible.

Today added two more functions: screen can be rotated via software setting (to accommodate for different mounting options) and engine coolant temperature sensor (aka. 2nd channel) can be activated/deactivated too. Screen display layouts change accordingly. Will follow-up with a video once I have the new housing ready.

I think the only questions I have are: When are you going to start selling them, and for how much? Very cool Csory!!

Forget that Csory, Nemo needs you to invent a cooling jacket! Smile
