Had one of those for about three years. Was supposed to be UV-rated. The sun had its way with it and eventually it tore at all the highest strain points. It did, however, see four seasons, including -35C and piles of snow and ice - but it didn't cave to the weight.

Same thing with outdoor BBQ grill covers. I buy ‘em cheap from eBay and simply replace them every season. They don’t hold up very well in the elements.

Unfortunately, I do not have a garage, so my bikes stay outside all year, through humidity, rain, beating sun, and snow. I have not yet found a cover, no matter the cost or material, which will last more than a season without fading. The best thing to do is buy a new polyester cover every year for about sixty dollars. Then, before it falls apart, I buy another cover, and put it over the old cover. The ideal for me is to have three covers. The ones underneath are faded, but intact. This has worked exceptionally well for me, keeping my bikes dry and in perfect condition.

Understood. It is a drag, and grows old very fast.

My CB1100 got a lot of exposure over the years and remarkably remained near mint condition. I think I had to manage pitting on some chrome parts, but not a hardship - but I reckon eventually it would be.

The finish - of at least the earlier CB1100s - was fantastic.
