That sprocket swap wouldn't work well on a 2014 and later bike with a 6-speed.

When the 6-speed came out on the 2014 models, its 5th speed was already taller than the 2013's top gear. In other words, the 2014's 5th gear already turned fewer rpms than high gear in the 2013. The 6th gear dropped it even more, killing top gear roll-on. Some people are going the other way, putting more teeth on the rear sprocket to boost the acceleration.

The 2014 screwed it all up - IMO. Instead of just adding a 6th gear and leaving everything else alone, they changed all the gearing. Best option is the 2013 with a larger (only 1 tooth possible due to space imitation) front sprocket and decrease the rear by 2 or 4.

Whoever buys my 2013 CB1100 get the opportunity to do it themselves.

I had the 2013 CB1100 with a 5-speed gearbox and for this reason I sold it and bought the 2104 6-speed model which I consider to be a great improvement and smart engineering.
This type of 21st century bike should never have a 5-speed gearbox.

Ya.

Even my ol' 20th century '76 RD400 had a six-speed gearbox.

As did my 73 RD 350, and my 04 and 06 FZ-1s and my 2018 FJR. However my 2006 ST 1300 still had a 5 speed trans (many on the ST forum were begging for a 6 speed but Honda quit making them before that came to fruition).

I had no issue with the 5 speed in my 2013 CB 1100, but felt the 6th speed in my 14 was a definite upgrade. More relaxed cruising.

I do not mind the 5 speed on my 2013 but since putting O2 sensor eliminators on my 2014 I seem to use the sixth gear more than before on the Interstates . More power and therefor quicker going into higher gear ? Before the the eliminators installation I hardly ever used the sixth gear .

I love the factory gearing in my 14 love having that 6th gear overdrive

If the 5-speed had come with the 19T/37T combo from the factory, or had a slightly wider gear ratio spread, I think the 6-speed would not have been needed. I don't want to shift just for the sake of shifting, when 5 will do. This ain't no race bike..

When I did the research on the gearing, by going to the 19/35, 70mph goes from 4000 rpm to 3300 if I recall correctly. All it would do is reduce engine noise. Not that 4000 is bad, but 3300 is nicer with plenty of power still available for ....
