I just couldn't resist getting these diamonds for my lovely bike.

I think they will look great when attached to the side covers, and the red colour nicely matches the red wing-logo on my tank (see my avatar).

But how to securely attach them? I see 2 options:

a) I can drill 2 small holes in the side covers and attach the diamonds as how it was intended, securing them at the back with the tiny fasteners.

or

b) I can cut off the 2 pins, and just "glue" (with removable glue, e.g. sikaflex) the diamonds to the side covers.

The advantage of the second option is that the side covers will stay pristine, and that I can take the diamonds off again if I change my mind. Disadvantage is that I am not sure they will stay attached when glued, and it would be a waste if they fall off.

Any bright ideas?

I'd use 3M grey foam mounting tape. That's what most OEMs use to mount emblems. Won't damage the emblem or the panel if you decide to remove them.
If you can't find the grey tape, this is good: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotch-Extreme...RECEU?th=1

i'm in the "cut off the pins" camp. That's what i did with mine when i got them, the 3M outdoor foam tape is so strong it will literally never come off on its own.

I got them off Ebay: see [url=https://www.ebay.ca/itm/292288752166]this link.
They also exist in a gold/orange colour.

That is probably the best option indeed. But is it possible to get the tape off again if I decide to remove it?

Some glues can make a permanent bond with plastics, I am sure you have seen cases like this with bad gorilla tape. etc. But they never do with bare metal. So tge answer is no.

Yes, 3M mounting tape can be removed without damaging the paint on your side covers or your emblems. I use it frequently for things like this.

They are (or were) still available thru a Honda dealer. The OEM’s have “HM” at the bottom of the wing; the knockoffs do not.[Image: a1965377d1c08f5e6d1ba54015efb1b6.jpg]

(+1) The grey 3M foam tape. Unfailing.

Runner-up, black.

The grey tape is harder to find for some reason, and the tape that's readily available at stores like Home Depot is the black stuff. The black is thinner, which is good for small emblems. In my experience, the black doesn't have the same initial "grab" as the grey tape, but once cured for a day or so, it seems to work fine.

I prefer the grey, and get it from Ebay when needed. For emblems, just wipe with some alcohol, apply the tape, trim to shape with a razor knife, and you're ready to stick.
