Installation of a Quad Lock Wireless Charger [No Cut Mod]
#1

Another thread another few wires to cram into the headlight.
This time to add a mount and wireless charging for my phone in the form of a quad lock.

Here are all the components, instead of the official quad lock power supply which senses the battery and does fancy stuff I used a dumb [url=https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B09B7XZYJQ]12V to 5V 3A USB supply from Amazon.

As if someone was planning for this there is a nice convenient connector in the headlight that supplies power only when the ignition is on.
It uses the SUMITOMO HM 090 connectors which can be found [url=https://aliexpress.com/item/4000883671545.html]here on AliExpress.

I used some heat shrink to cover the USB connection mostly just to keep it in place through all the vibrations.

And here's the final product works pretty well with the phone case.
The only thing I don't like is that you basically have to decide if you want to mount the phone horizontal or vertical as removing the phone is only easy if the longer sides of the puck can be grabbed around the phone.
This could have been solved if the puck had more of a plus/cross shape not just one longer orientation.

Nice wireless charger mount LayerCake.

Is the mount relatively easy to steal?

Thank you.
If you carry the correct size allen key yeah easy enough to steal.
No idea how you'd prevent that.

The RAM X-Grip has the same problem, but they probably less desirable to lift off the bike than your mount. They still cost some coin to replace, so RAM offers a key lock for the clamp down nut. Alternatively, there are "free spinning" nuts available that requires a special driver to remove, but it does prevent the easy theft.

Figured I should at least show the case mounted on it even if I need the phone to take the pictures.

I might add some snake eye screws. Or just 3D print a plug for the screw and glue it in the hex hole.
