HondaJon Thanks for sharing this picture. Can you share the link to this, I would like to finish reading the rest of the article. Btw, it looks so much like our CB1100 that this concept would work. Only with a much bigger engine.

And its not surprising you have never seen one. Honda brought them in for 2 years IIRC and they were not good sellers. Highly collectible now though.

It's a lovely bike, built either before or after it's time, depending on one's perspective. It's a momentum bike rather than a blistering performer. Get it into a nice flow, and it's a delight to throw around the back roads. A sporting single, light and agile, and beautifully built and finished. A keeper!

The GB500 is a homage to a number of vintage machines, not unlike the CB1100. Difference being that it is a tribute to old British thumpers, rather than the CB's reference points of various '70's Honda models. It does a great job of capturing the spirit, but not necessarily the glory, of AJS, Velocette, BSA and others. Here are a few shots of bikes that influenced the GB500, taken on one of my trips to the Isle of Man, along with one of the GB in repose.

When I worked at the Honda store when it came out all the employees called it "The Horton" because it looked a little like the Norton

Honda should stuff the current xr 650l motor into that GB chassis and cash in on the vintage bike market.
