redReno's Street Triple R
#1
This bike is an absolute blast!

How it beats the CB1000R I HAD:
It's lighter.
Even more comfortable and seat height is just a bit shorter.
Sounds better.
Quicker off the line.
Cruises in top gear at 75mph at about 6Krpm and doesn't vibrate uncomfortably.
Red lines at about 14Krpms.
Great gas mileage.
HAS A GEAR INDICATOR.
Easy to read instrument cluster/gauges.
Was able to set suspension up to me without having to replace fork springs or any other part.
Almost just as much horsepower and torque (I really don't feel a difference between the two bikes)
CHEAPER TO INSURE
AND IT'S RED!!!!! (the gray 2010 is my cousin's)
I will never go back to a bike over 1000 cc's. I hardly ever used the 6th gear on the CB1000R.
The only problem I have with the STR is that it isn't a Honda, but I wanted to branch out eventually.

So I started out riding a 2003 Nighthawk 750 2 years ago, then in April 2013 I upgraded to a CB1100.

I wanted something quicker and figured, "Hey, 1140 CC's should do the trick." But eh, I ended up trading it in for a 2013 CB1000R that same year.
Here is that thread: [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=939&highlight=cb1000r]http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=939&highlight=cb1000r

I called up the insurance for a quote and it wasn't too bad, but it turned out the person on the other end of the phone put down 100 cc's instead of 1000. So they told me when my policy renewed in April 2014, it would go up.

Well, I ended up getting in a little wreck soon after getting the CB1KR. Was going about 40mph or so and went over a bump in the road while leaned over, lost traction and the bike went out from under me.

Well with the CC's being wrong and having a claim with 100% being my fault, I have been paying $263 a month since my policy renewed in April!!!!
But now with the STR I am only paying $71 a month.

I went with the STR because I liked my cousin's and I recently took the Lee Parks Total Control Course over here and one of the instructors had a 2012 STR. I fell in love with it then. Turned out a dealership over here had one in stock with 6575 miles, bar end mirrors (hard to see crap but I can get used to them) and some frame sliders, everything else is stock.

Congrats again Redreno! you will love how well the STR rides and To me this bike is a jack of all trades compared to the CB1KR. there are recalls for the bike at the moment and hope the previous owner or dealer took care of them for you.

Those are all sweet lookin!
What mods/parts have you gotten for yours?

What's the recall?
I plan on replacing all the fluids and getting some new tires for it. After that, I'm going to order a few stuff:

TechSpec Tank Grips
Axel Sliders
Radiator Guard
Rear Hugger
Maybe different turn signals
Maybe a rear fender eliminator kit, would probably be the last thing.
Would be awesome to get the single headlight mod, but I like the uniqueness of the stock headlights.

Nice bike, RedReno. In my opinion it's not nearly so pretty as the CB1100, but who cares what I think?

Hope you have a fabulous time on the Triumph. And that you drop in and tell us every now and again.

Congrats on the new bike Redreno. I test rode a Street Triple a few years back and it was a blast. Thrilling powerful motor and fabulous quick road manners. Well done.

I like single headlight conversion. Never could take to the two bug eyes.
I hear they are fabulous bikes though.

Redreno, Some bikes are not affected but its good to check if your vins falls for these recalls which are the Shift Shaft Recall & Regulator/Rectifier/stator by submitting the vin or calling Triumph customer service, They are very helpful. Smile

Too much to list on mods I pretty much converted the bike to the Triumph Parkingo Race Series bike. Except I used ohlins front and rear suspension and the parkingo bikes use Bitubos.

I dig the Single Headlight Mod!

I'm with you on that one! Those bugs eyes "bug" me. Give me a single headlight anytime.
And it also doesn't hold a candle to the CB1100 in looks.
But it's a hooligan bike; a street scrapper and a fantastic machine Banana
It doesn't have to be pretty; just effective - and effective it is Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

The first Street Triple I encountered was a metallic black 2013 Street Triple R, and I thought it was UGLY!
But I'm really into the red color on this one and the head lights have grown on me.
Also, the 2013 had the side exhaust which I thought looked hideous, this one has the sweet looking double under tail... which heat up and even the guards get hot... might be a problem for the old lady. Confused
