I am actually disappointed, and must say I don't like it. Can only agree with The Spaceman here as well.
Earlier in the year I went to a Ducati ride day. I used to be a major fan, and probably my all time favorite bike is a Ducati, but I ended up leaving the place without trying a single bike. Seriously, I would not buy any of their current range, and the Scrambler is not about to change that.
I really think that they could have a success if they bring back the SportsClassic range, to compete with the likes of the R9T and the CB. And I wish they would also come out with a new ST that doesn't look like the rest of their range...

Heck yes! When I bought my VStrom 1000 in '07 I was looking really hard at the SportsClassic, but the dealership was such a cluster I couldn't get the deal done. Which turned out to be a lucky break because the GT's fiberglass gas tanks turned out to be a nightmare. I know a guy who had to replace the tank 3 times before he finally sold his bike.
Or how about another bike like the Paul Smart replica? I'd line up to buy one of those, or something in the same vein. Ducati has so much design history to draw on...

I agree. I really want to like them, but not with that weird lower mud flap thingy on the rear that Ducati seems to have such an affinity for.

Seems like a cool bike. Ducati makes beautiful bikes but most would break me before I got an hour of riding in. The Multi and now this are the exceptions. I test rode a MultiStrada S when my brother tested a Diavel. The Multi was a bit tall for me to swing a leg over but once on it was nice and comfy and I could flat foot it fine. Rode like an over the top trail bike - thing has crazy power. The Diavel's nice but a little too cruiser-ish. This new scrambler looks to be just basic fun.

I like the look of this version better, however it will supposedly price at $9995, and still had that crazy exhaust:

its certainly not a bad looking bike, has a solid look to it, but with barely any fenders and a lowish pipe, is it really a scrambler?

Yeah Classic VW. That struck me too. Most scramblers have the pipes routed up high where they won't bang on anything. Call it a SINO - scrambler in name only.

Scramblers have high pipes as a styling gimmick. With the minimum ground clearance and suspension travel of this Ducati it is hardly an off road bike and is not intended to be. With it's light weight and dual purpose tires it is set up just right for graded dirt roads and rural byways. Ducati is going to sell a ton of them.

A couple articles quote Ducati as saying it'll have a start price of $8494 for the red one. Ducati also says they are after "young hipsters", so I imagine the bike will be staying mostly in the city and never out in the dirt.
