Very cool. Wonder if he has a CB 1100? Lol

When I was 19 and working for Federated Department stores I met an old black gentleman, probably in his 70s at the time. Always dressed like he was going to church, as did his wife, and always wore a Suzuki lapel pin. Nice, nice gentleman, and always a gentleman. So one day we started talking motorcycles. When he learned I also rode he always made it a point to come find me when he was in the store just to chat. One day he brought in a paper from Suzuki Motorcycle Co which acknowledged him for buying more Suzuki motorcycles than anyone else in the world (iirc he had bought 37 new Suzukis at the time) This gentleman bought one of everything Suzuki made, and every time they brought out a new model he would buy it. At this time Suzuki had not gotten into 4 strokes yet and this gentleman really like his 550 Suzuki triple. I left Federated to go to work at a Yamaha/Moto Guzzi shop and lost touch with him. Wish I had kept in touch. He was a fascinating man and a true motorcyclist. Would have loved to see his garage. Don't know why I never made the effort to make that happened, but he never invited and I wasn't going to invite myself. Odd couple we made, a 70 year old black man and a 19 year old long haired white kid with our only common bond being motorcycles.

Wow, what a great story and history. Very cool of Honda to acknowledge something like that, too.

Um...I'm not sure why his race was ...mentioned... twice...I guess that...well never mind. It takes a village. Didn't see that coming here. Wow...its a cool story but what the heck does the guys skin pigment have to do with anything?!

I think the pigment has to do with showing how bikes bring people together, John. The people's ages were mentioned, too, as was the length of their hair. I think the point of the story was that common interests can break down barriers that divide us.

Then again, maybe I missed the point.

No you guys got it, guess I could have just said I met this person who had bought more Suzukis than anybody else, but there was more to it than that....we were diversely different, race, age, socially, generationally, but found a commonality that let us bond... motorcycles.

What amazes me is how much would that cost to buy that many motorcycles? AND what is truly amazing is that is one heck of a great wife to allow it!
