Honda Grom

Saw a guy blasting around on one of these yesterday. Looked like fun, he was doing almost 50 no trouble.
I'm getting the heated gear out, I can't take it anymore. 28 this morning
Need to ride.....................

Yeah, the Grom looks interesting. And aside from its clown-car proportions, it's apparently a serious machine.

I'm not wild about the tiny wheels, though. And 50...well, that's fast enough, but not earth-shattering.

Interesting though. The Kow 125 I have, that I got cheap, is derided - on the Web and elsewhere - as "lame" and "a turd." This thing, which of course is more modern, water-cooled, and weirdly styled, is "kewel."

Not sure why. No doubt it's higher quality. But no faster than the Kow, which I've had up to 60; and looks even-more ridiculous under a bigger rider.

The Grom reminds me of the 1998 Kawasaki KSR-80 I had size wise but this thing was a 2 stroke liquid cooled, 6 speed and inverted forks. The thing handled awesome and would do 73mph. They were a Japan market bike only, I got mine on eBay.

I wanted one as a novelty. For what you pay for one, a used dual sport or supermoto seems like more fun. I bought a small supermoto with that logic and sold it within 3 months. While the idea of ripping around on a small bike sounds appealing, my reality is that I prefer a larger bike.

The Grom is fun for sure. I've done a few 100+ mile rides on them, and yeah, they do everything right and feel tight like a Honda should. Not cramped for my 6'2" , 250#, but should remove the seat strap.

I'm strongly considering getting one as a second bike for around town traffic here in Houston.

I checked out one of these this winter. Didn't get to ride it as it was snowing at the time. Its a lot bigger than it looks in the pic. Seat is probably 28 to 29".

It was at a Honda dealer when I was looking for CBs. They have a variety of colors and the one I looked at was like $2,500. A lot more naked looking than the Grom.

That's a Sachs MadAss 125. Chinese built bike with an engine being an imitation of the Honda Cub. Fun to ride, but the quality of those Chinese built bikes can be a bit iffy.
