Bitter Sweet Day New N1K

I have been thinking about a new bike to replace my ST1300 with something lighter and more sporty. I'm a Honda Guy and gave them a good look but nothing fit, the VFR800 had a bit to aggressive seating position and down on power and the sport tourers where just to heavy. The N1K was what I was looking for, high HP handling with an optional set of integrated bags for 2014 just seem to fit the bill. So, yesterday I traded the CB.

I have only had a chance to put 50 miles on it last eve, first impression, the seating position is upright with a bit of forward lean with a short reach to the bars, setup for a short rider The engine is wound up so tight 6 gear off throttle engine breaking had me thinking why have brakes on this bike LOL after coming off the CB1100. The bike comes with ABS, four modes of traction control with one of those position being off. In position one full on the bike will not spin up or wheelie just straight power to the ground. I need to put in some seat time to get a good feel of the bike.

I have been on this site for 2 years with over a month logged in and 117 PM, over that time I have looked forward each morning to have coffee (or tea) with Mickey and hope I have contributed and help a few members, I know I have gotten a lot of ideas and help here.

Like ACK, i plan on hanging around because this is one forum i enjoy reading each morning, Oh and I also purchased two rally shirts which I look forward to wearing.

NICE bike. I really like the N1K and seems like a great solution to the sporty tourer. Here is a great report ( one of so many) on your bike. I particularly like the chart part way down that shows how powerful your bike is in real world riding, compared to other super bikes. It's a bike that makes a lot of sense. Good choice.

Like Ack I hope you do stick around, and give us updates on and ride reports. You have been an integral part of this forum from the early days and I have always enjoyed your threads and posts. Your work on the Street Shield Ex was particularly useful to me even if you made me take a jig saw and cut up a perfectly good and very expensive shield. In the long run I am happier because of it.

Btw since you now have a "tourer" you could still come to the rally. Jump on at Front Royal, ride down the Skyline and BRP and then join us on the Dragon.

Thanks Guys, would love to be there but wedding plans for my son are in full gear now for that weekend, but will enjoy the pic's from the rally. I'll have a ride report and full review in the future.

You Know, po'd me off, Hedge called while i was in the dealership yesterday, I had just made the deal and wanted to pull the seat for him, the owner said a gave you top dollar on your trade it stays on the bike.

I have a full stock exhaust, the Plexi 2 is yours Ferret and i have the bottom brackets you'll need to install it. We'll figure it through a PM The shorty i left on the bike.
