Arriving at the dealer in Toledo OH. sometime in April. 60th Anniversary Limited Edition XSR900 triple. They're only getting one. I'll be doing my usual fly up, road trip home. This pic was taken at Bike Week at the Yamaha display:
This was my last Yamaha XS. A 1977 or 78 that Lee and I rescued from a garage where it had sat for a couple of years. I love triples

Cool Geezer. Is that going to be in addition to or in replacent of your CB?

Geezer,
Did you find that XS in Fla.? Maybe it was my old bike

I bought mine in the Navy Exchange in Japan in the crate. It was loaded with a bunch of other bikes on the USS Constellation (CV-64) and offloaded in San Diego. We flew it to Norfolk on a Navy C-9. I sold it to a friend of mine in 1987. Had it shipped to him in Florida. I don't know what ever happened to it though. I don't seem to have any pics of it so I saved yours.

Both old and new Yamahas are gorgeous. Great choice Geezer. Love the "bumble bee" pattern on the new one. Best racing colors ever for Yamaha from the 70's like this....

Being a triple is even better. Cannot beat the sound and feel.

I think I would have to paint the fork ears, edges of radiator and those brackets with holes under the seat black if it were mine. Don't understand the holy bracket back by the seat?

They're going to go great with gold handlebars. The suspension is upgraded from the normal stock stuff

I bought the XS from the son of the original owner.
Son had it sitting in his garage for 2 years and it hadn't run for a year before that. It wasn't in too bad a shape. Lee and I put in new synthetic and filter, new plugs and wires, rebuilt the carbs and added pods. Found a new Mac 3 into 1 and bolted it up. Cleaned the connections, installed a new battery and it cranked right up, purring like a kitten. Then I redid the brakes, found a repop front brake master, found a used replacement tach, new fork seals and fluid, misc. other stuff then rode the crap out of it. Put a couple k miles on and sold it for a tidy profit. Have to say, I miss the sound of winding that baby out. Buyer was in his 20's, it was love at first sight for him. Then I cranked it up and he was hooked

Love, love, love that XSR. One of the hits of the Motorcycle show, based on my non- scientific survey over beers afterwards. Great motor, modern bike, throwback color way. Nice!
